  1. Hey guys...with respect to the beach-it was really nice-some of it yes has eroded away due to the hurricanes and such-there are some sandbags up but what they really do is act as barricades to the huge waves...a few days we were there there were 8 foot waves and a really strong rip tide that would pull you out. The bags are good cause the kids kind of play behind them and cannot get sucked out that way. The beach is really nice-get there early in the morning if you want to get chairs on the beach. Sand is beautiful there- I heard they had to import it from China after all the storms they were hit with-not sure if that is true or not but it is almost white, soft, really fine sand. With respect to the reception-there were 32 of us in total and we had ours at the international buffet. I have heard that when you have a large group they will do a private reception for you as larger groups are hard to accomodate-I heard you have to have over 40 people and then it is free but if you want a private reception for less than that number you then have to pay for it. Maybe email Lupita and ask her as I am not too sure about that. With 70 people going you should have at least 18 rooms so you should be able to get quite a discount off your wedding if not get it for free. We went with the most basic legal package and then added flowers. I had 4 flower girls, 3 bridesmaids, 3 groomsmen, 1 ring bearer and a corsage for my mom and his as well as his boutinneir (sp?) and my boquet and the total cost for all our flowers was $335 USD. We got our wedding for the $500 USD as we saved the $350 for having over 7 rooms or whatever it is you needed. Our costs were as follows: $500 wedding (legal package) $335 flowers for whole party $40 translator Then we had to pay $70 judge's transportation $220 blood tests $80 for my hair For a total of $1245.00 USD. We did not get a photographer or hire a band. There is live entertainment every night outdoors and we all just grabbed tables there, watched the bands and had our drinks and enjoyed the weather. Family had really good cameras so we saved costs there. No matter which package you get they do not include flowers for anyone other than the bride and groom so if you have a wedding party at all you may want to consider the costs for flowers for everyone. There is a golf cart that will go right to the bride's room to pick her up and the wedding party and they take you right to the wedding hut. The guys just have to walk it which is no big deal. They got our music right. We had one song for the guys entrance, one for all the girls, one for the signing of the documents and one for when we exited and it worked perfectly. Then you go up to the wedding hut which is right behind where the ceremony is (right there) and they have champaigne for the adults and apple juice for the kids. You can do your toasts or whatever there, then go off for your pics and whatever then go to your dinner location. Hope this info helps. If you have any more questions feel free to send them to me on facebook as I dont go on this site very often. Thanks and good luck!
  2. Hello again...we had a legal ceremony...we didnt meet the judge at all before the ceremony...she was just there, performed the ceremony then left...a female-she seemed nice enough-didnt speak english so we had a translator from the hotel staff ($40 USD). I do have some pics up on facebook if you wanted to add Sabrina Randall from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to your friends that way you can access my pics...we dont have any of the ones taken with the good cameras back yet but will soon and I will post them once I get them back, for now we just have the ones taken by friends and family up but you are all welcome to check them out if you want.
  3. Hey all...just got married at Sandos Playacar on March 26/09. The whole thing was beautiful. Just wanted to say that everything was perfect so no need to worry. THe resort is huge, food is great and service is awesome. The beach is beautiful, flowers were perfect...i was really worried before going down since there is not too much information available but everything was just right. We emailed back and forth with Lupita but once we got there Paola was our coordinator, she was really good. I got my hair done in the salon...for the bride it is an automatic $100...they only charged me $80 since my hair was fairly simple...they do an amazing job on hair at the spa. We just had friends and family do our photos so i cannot provide much info there. The beach set up is beautiful. There is a photographer on the resort, there are some photos in the office when you have your interview and they are very good quality so you would probably be safe going with the resort photographer. You cant really take a DJ because there is no private reception unless you pay for one somewhere on the resort. Maybe email Lupita and ask her. IF you bring your own photographer you have to pay the extra $70+ for them to come on the resort as you would if you had guests coming from off resort. The reception is just held in one of the restaurants so you cannot do speeches or anything like that because there is no mic and it is open to the public. The wedding cake they provided was nice as well. Hope this information helps.
  4. You need to have your passport, travellers visa as well as 4 witnesses (which you can also pay for if you dont have them coming) if the male has been divorced he is considered a single man in mexico so no extra documentation needed but if the female is divorced you need a long form birth certificate as well as divorce certificate that you have to fax down to them a few weeks prior to the wedding and they will have it translated to spanish for something like $70 USD/page. Other than that we are taking our birth certificates, passports and tourist visas with us. We are getting married at the Sandos Playacar Beach Resort on March 26...4 weeks!
  5. Hello, I noticed you got married at one of the Sandos resorts...we are getting married at the Sandos Playacar Beach Resort in 4 weeks and still havent picked a wedding package. We arent sure of much at this point. Do you have any advice on flowers?-Some people have suggested we go with a package without flowers then go in town and get them locally...does that sound feasable? Can you tell me anything I should know? ANything is appreciated and helpful!
  6. Hey, did you just get married at Sandos Playacar Beach resort in January? We are getting married there in March (26) and I am still confused about all the packages. We want a legal wedding, we have about 28 guests (including children)-any advice you can offer would be amazing. I am confused about getting flowers also as we could go for the basic package but then flowers aren't included. The packages with flowers dont provide flowers to the wedding party and corsages for the parents....ahhhh...any advice?
