  1. Ladies, what are you doing for your wedding favors for those having an at home reception. I thought about a candy buffett and using that as my favors, but my reception is Halloween Night and there will already be a ton of candy floating around somewhere. I don't know what I want to use, some of the favors are expensive. Also did you order an amount equal to your number of guests, expecting that everyone would take one? I'll be having a very large AHR but I'm wondering if I should order enough for everyone or just barely enough so I won't have anything left over.

  2. I am having an AHR two weeks after we get back from Jamaica. We are the only two that would be in Jamaica and I wanted to have something for my family and friends when we get back. Especially since I have a close, tight knit family. But it has blown up into a full blown reception. I will be glad when the entire month of October is over really. You should have seen the looks on my mom and aunts face when I told them I didn't want a garter/bouquet toss. They were like "but its tradition". Whatev!

  3. Another question I thought about and some of my friends would kill me for asking this (because they know me and my Blackberry are attached at the hip) I know I am going to get married and relax and all, but will my blackberry work over there (Verizon) and will I have good internet access? I haven't traveled out of the country much. I want to at least be able to call my parents or email them and other close friends and family to announce that we are finally married. Especially since we are traveling with just the two of us.

  4. Jamaicabride09 do you care to share your list so I can make sure I don't forget to cover anything with my planner? I have pregnancy brain these days. We just booked officially for October 8-13th at Dunn's River. Just got my confirmation. We are getting married on October 10th at 11am. I wanted to do it in the morning for better pics and hopefully it won't be so hot. I don't want to pass out saying my vows. Also did someone mention that you can just order all of the other stuff when you get there such as al cart photos, videographer, decorations, etc. We've already paid for the room, I'm just trying to get an idea of what else I would need to pay for in advance since our final payment is due beforehand. I believe our receipt says final payment due 8/24/2009 however I though it was due 30 days before? Hmmmmm That's a little earlier than 30.

  5. I was going to initially send my wedding invitations out about 8 weeks in advance, however since I'm having a destination wedding and an at home reception (a couple weeks after we return) when should I send out the wedding announcements/invitations for the AHR? Should I mail them out right before I go, or should I do them at least a month in advance. I will have some people coming from out of town, but the bulk of my family and friends will be local. The friends I have coming from out of town I can just let them know a little bit ahead of the invitations and assist with travel accomodations.

Let me add that I won't need RSVPs technically. The UAW hall where the reception will be held holds a lot of people. My family will cook enough food so that if 600 people come we'll be alright. I've seen it happen. LOL

  6. My fiance and I decided to get married at Sandals Dunns River. I received information on the wedding packages, photography, flowers etc. I was curious as to what other brides or bride to be are doing. I would like us to have a nice wedding (it will only be the two of us) without spending too much money as we have a new addition to our family on the way. I would like a nice room, but its not a big deal if I don't have an Ocean view or a butler. I would like some pictures and a video. I'm planning on having my mother do my bouquet and bout. and taking it with me or either having it sent ahead of time. So most likely I won't need the flowers. What about decorations? Would I need decor for my wedding site, such as additional flowers, or are the wedding sites nice enough to go "as is". Also, I'm wondering what tips other's have to make our wedding nice but cost effective. Did you do the ala carte pictures or did you get one of the packages, etc? Can I take a CD with my own music? I'm open to any and all suggestions, tips, advice...We haven't booked yet, but hopefully in the next week. I'm waiting to received some information so we won't have a scheduling conflict.

Also do they provide witnesses for you if its just the two of you (I might have asked this before but can't remember)?

  7. I will be glad when I can finally get our wedding day booked. I'm a grad student, and I'm waiting on them to release our fall class schedule so I won't end up picking a week I have class. We are going to get married in October, just the two of us. They said it should be out at the beginning of this week so I hope its in the next day or so. I know they are having a sale right now and I don't want to miss out. But we want to get married at Sandals Dunns River as well. I'm so excited for you!

  8. Hello ladies,

I originally planned to have a rather large wedding here in Florida near my home, home. But I just found out that we are expected our first baby so we want to do a smaller, more intimate wedding, and also incorporate some vacation/honeymoon time in there before our lives change smile123.gif I don't want the stress anymore of having a big wedding or dealing with the details. And we may not have a chance to go on a vacation for a long while.

I'm going through the threads now. But I was wondering for those that are going the Sandals route, particularly Jamaica (although I haven't quite decided on a resort as of yet) what made you choose your resort location? What other options did you choose? I would like my wedding to be videotaped and some nice pictures, thats definitely a must. And maybe a nice dinner afterwards. It might end up being just me and my fiance, but we may have maybe 2 additional people. Not sure yet of that either. But we are moving our wedding date up, so with such short notice who knows who might attend..
