  1. Thanks for the details - they greatly appreciated!! Can't wait to hear about everyone's experiences!
  2. Hi there - Does anyone know if you HAVE to have already booked your travel before you can book your wedding date at the Valentin? I know I want to get married there and have emailed and received an information form back from Guadalupe/Ariadna that asks for my arrival dates/confirmation #'s but I want to confirm my wedding date before booking my travel... It's kind of one of those chicken/egg situations. It also mentions that the information is valid until October of 2009 but I am looking into next February or early March 2010... How did you all go about this Any insight would be MOST appreciated!
  3. Please disregard this - I had posted earlier but for some reason didn't think it had gone up but now see that it did... oops, what a true newbie!
  4. Hi all, My name is Ali and I am planning to be married in the Spring of 2010 at a destination to be determined! We initially thought we would be married locally but soon changed our minds when looking at the costs involved and speaking with those who had spent so much time planning their special day only to find it gone within the blink of an eye. We loved the idea of having a 'family trip' of sorts with some good friends along as well. We were in Maui in October and loved it - we were thinking of doing a small wedding there with a reception locally but when we looked at the costs involved both for us and for our guests, we thought we would be better suited to doing our wedding at an all inclusive resort. Sounds simple but there are alot of different areas to choose from. We are also wanting our wedding to be adult-only which hasn't made us very popular but we are sticking to our guns on that one. We have heard both positives and negatives to Mexico, Dominican, Costa Rica, Jamaica, etc... I am looking forward to gaining some insight from other people's experiences and figuring some of this out through this wonderful website!!
  5. Hi all, My name is Ali and I am planning to get married next spring 2010. While I am super excited about the wedding... the planning is freaking me out. Initially we weren't going to do a destination wedding - my fiance had been to two in the Dominican that he felt were 'cookie cutter' weddings which put him off. But we went to Maui in October and absolutely loved it there. After getting engaged, I threw the idea of getting married there out to him and he said it sounded like a wonderful idea to get married there and do a ceremony at home. Once we started looking into the costs for the actual wedding, and for what guests would have to invest to attend our wedding we started leaning toward the all-inclusive resort destination. At that point I thought our problems were over, but now everyone seems to have a good and bad story about Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rica etc etc... Additionally, we want to have an adult-only wedding which isn't making us very popular and is posing some challenges.... All of this aside, I am very positive that I will be able to find a destination that will work for us and I am hoping that this website will provide me with some insight so I can start making some decisions!
