Hey Ladies, I was married there in September! It was the perfect wedding! I purchased the smallest package as I really wasnt concerned with all the details, since its already beautiful there! I would not have done it any different. We did not do any of the private parties etc... We still had to pay per person at the restaurant, which was the only extra cost. The flowers were amazing, Candy was amazing, even though she seems to be not that great in the begining, she knows what she is doing. Ladies all this info is so helpful its not even funny! I also really appriciate the photos, I went from being nervous to really excited, it also seems that once Candy starts to focus on you all is well! I'm also not sure what to do about gifts for everyone, I can't seem to make up my mind. Once I do I will let you all know, but in the meantime if anyone comes up with anything let me know! At this point I think that is all I have to do besides the photographer, which I think we have pretty much decided... Where does the time go? I thought I had forever and now its 3 months away! AHHH!

Hey Gals! I have not been on here for a while, I also have done nothing and now there are only 4 months left! I really need to hire a photographer.... Any thoughts? Also can anyone give me any tips on what I should be doing here before I go? I have done nothing other than pick my package and dress! The last year just flew by and now I'm nervous! LOL!

Can anyone tell me when I should start working with Candy, and if she will send me everything I need to actually plan the day? I'm not sure when I should start actually making plans. Also I would love to hear about photographers, as we need to get on that for sure! With the weather here in Vancouver right now, September can't come soon enough!

It looks as though the prices have changed.... I'm not sure if that means we all have to pay up, or just people who have not paid for the packages? It's so hard getting anything from the resort, so anything extra would be very helpful! I was quoted $10.00, for the cocktail reception, however that may have now changed? Ahhh....

Hey guys, We are getting married here first (secretly) then having the ceremony down there, I didn't want to worry about being there three days etc, however.... I have had a lot of friends get married there and its totally fine, you just have to be there three days, and not all resorts require the blood work, but if they do, its totally fine. Also my TA got us $1485CDN taxes, transfers, EVERYTHING in, the price is going up and that was a group rate, but she has been the best TA I have ever had.... Hey, As far as everyone booking my TA in Nanaimo is AMAZING, she has helped everyone. Most of the people who booked, booked on the charter flight as our price WAS amazing, however it has gone up, but she helped everyone, including my mom who booked with airmiles, and then neggotiated a deal through the hotel. I have a guest coming from Calgary and 3 from Sask, and she was able to take care of all of them. I planned the one package, and then everyone else is on there own, but a few did go different routes, all through the same TA though. If people are booking flights seperate, they have to call the hotel on their own.

Yes this drug stuff is very scary, I saw it on the local news the other night, their travel expert guy said that he would still travel, but to make sure you tell your guests to stay in the resort at night and for woman to never leave alone and a group of two is too small. We just have to be smart, I live in Vancouver and all of a sudden we have a major drug war here?? However you still live your life and do the things you always do, you are just a little more careful. Mexico will be awesome! I can't wait to hear about the site visit.

pribzl.... You need to call the resort and talk to them about the prices... I'm not sure how you booked, but we were able to get a much cheaper rate for some of our guests, the ones that booked through an agent paid more, but the few that are flying down on their own all got good rates, they were all different, however still less than what your guests are paying. It always works like this everywhere you go, I travel more than I would like to think I do, and I can go to the same place everyweekend and get a different quote from a different person everytime.... Give them a call and talk to a manager!

This forum is wonderful, thank you everyone! I would be so freaked if I didn't have you guys! My friends who were just married there celebrated with the other guests, so they made a reso in the restaurant, but did not make it private, so they didn't have to pay the extra, and said it was awesome, at that point everyone is your friend, plus people tend to keep to themselves, they also brought their Ipod and portable stereo and used that for the wedding music. Just a few ideas.... I can't wait to get more info from anyone and tips on what to make sure I do when I get there. Christina

Johnny, Those forms you have would be wonderful... I'm just trying to get confirmation that we have our date. Having that extra info would be wonderful! Also any other tips that pop up along the way would be great!

I will tell you its REALLY annoying, so far I have not heard back from her once, email or calling. I finally tracked her down yesterday to find out, she has no idea about our wedding?? Today I sent her all my payment info etc, and left her a message. I have not heard back if she even got it. Once I know she has our money and we are booked, I can deal with the rest, but I tell ya, its stressful!

Thank you SO much for all this info. When you say you had to run around does this mean you did a lot of the planning or just making sure you were ready? Also who did your hair, and what can I expect when I arrive? Will they be there to go over everything with me?

Hey! I just booked this resort a couple of days ago, we are getting married Sept 28th, and our group rate was 1488.00 per person, taxes and fees included. I went with one of the $999.00 wedding packages, and at this point getting a hold of the coordinator has been a nightmare, although I have personally been told amazing things about this place, and that, this is the norm down there?

Congrats on setting a location, I just did the same a week ago. I can tell you that you won't get prices for 2010, at this point all you can do is pick a package with the hotel, and then closer to the date you can get prices from your travel agent. Make sure the hotel has the date available, they usually want a deposit ASAP, and then you book around your date once the agent has prices!
