  1. I like how the article's reasoning is "two women got injured." Are they also going to ban other waxing, plastic surgery, facials, exercise, and all the other unnecessary things that can possibly go badly?

All that happens is that salons will start doing it in secret, and women will have to go to skeevy under-the-table places to get it done, which will just result in more injury! I got a good laugh out of the article at least, but are they serious? We have the right to bear arms, but not to get our bajingo's waxed?

  2. Ordering from Vistaprint always makes me feel like I'm going to get busted for doing something bad! I think printing thank-you notes on "business cards" is possibly an abuse of the system, but I say that it's their fault for making everything so customizable! My last order was $178 in savings, but I hope to one day break $200 :P

As far as I can tell, you can only ever use one "email" of savings, so if you select something from a second email everything in your cart will be overwritten (so you basically need to cherry-pick the best email in your inbox, and they really do vary a lot).

I'm bit nervous that my stuff is going to be left out in the rain or stolen. I made my order earlier this week, but I'm out of town all next week and I'm worried that my "21 day" shipping will arrive while I'm gone :S

  3. Keep in mind that pretty much every pet food is "vet recommended" and although Iams is better is better than a lot of foods, it still contains a lot of fillers and artificial ingredients that aren't ideal for your pet (Iams also has a massive marketing budget which makes them seem better than they are).

I think a food for sensitive stomachs would be a good idea, maybe something like this?

Also, I found this list of ingredients to avoid and look for in cat food:

    Quote:
The preservatives BHA, BHT and Ethoxyquin. BHA and BHT are carcinogens. Ethoxyquin is a rubber preservative and pesticide.

Foods that contain Rosemary (may be used as a preservative) shouldn't be served more than 2-3 times per week.

Carrageenan. This is a food thickener that can cause ulcerative colitis and other stomach problems. However, this ingredient is used in the new EVO canned products (95% meat) (among other products), and the advice I've received is that you have to weigh the overall benefits of the great food against a small amount of this ingredient which might cause digestive upsets. If you're faced with the choice of carageenan or an inferior quality food, go with the carrageenan. The same is true for GARLIC which is (still) present in Wellness.

Mannitol, Xylitol and Sorbitol: Can cause severe digestive upset and possibly kidney problems.

Potassium Sorbate: Can irritate skin and eyes.

Propylene Glycol: Can cause heinz body anemia, a type of damage to red blood cells.

Sodium Benzoate: Can adversely affect the central nervous system and cause allergic reactions as well as stomach irritations.

    Propyl Gallate

Artificial colors. Cats don't care what color their food is! There is no feline Iron Chef who will turn up her nose due to bad presentation!

Byproducts and meal. Byproducts aren't bad per se, but it would be NICE to know which ones. They can be anything from liver (good) to beaks and feet. If they're not named, don't feed them.

Any form of corn, wheat or soy. Corn is the worst of these and may ultimately lead to diabetes.

Avoid special labels such as "indoor" "senior" or "light". These foods may contain acidifying agents, excessive fiber, and inadequate fats that will result in skin and coat problems.

Don't buy your food at the grocery store - go to an independently owned pet store or a chain store if they carry good brands.

    Butylated hydroxyamisole.

    Butylated hydroxytoluene.

    Get:

Products containing MEAT, and it's best if it's listed first.

Products that are AAFCO certified to be complete. This doesn't mean the food is good, it just means it's balanced. Foods that don't have this or that aren't balanced aren't bad necessarily, but then they should perhaps only be used for supplemental feeding.

As you can see, it's more about avoiding things than looking for things. Yes, look for meat as the first ingredient, and it should be balanced for daily feeding (unless you plan to supplement). But it's mostly about what you should NOT see on the label!

Good luck!! I would definitely be revolted too, so hopefully a change of food and putting something in the food dish helps!
  4. I'm thinking I may make (or purchase if I'm short on time) some anklets for my BMs so that even if they secretly don't like them, they can wear them without it being a big deal (I may also get some little jewelry boxes for them).

Do you guys get your MoH something extra? And if so...what kinda of things do you get?

DGG, what are you hoping to spend on each? My best recommendation would be Etsy since you'll definitely find something in your price range that's nice!

  6. I think the "official" etiquette is to pay for two nights accommodation for the bridal party, and the rest is up to them (although paying for more is always ok!).

What are you ladies doing for BM jewelry? I was thinking of getting them matching jewelry as their BM gift, but I'm worried that they're going to go buy themselves jewelry before the wedding and there will be money wasted! Should I be providing jewelry and also buy them something else?

  7. Hmm...maybe I'm just a bad gf, but I watch those shows with my FI around! He even sits through them and discusses shows like ANTM with me. Since we've gotten engaged I've been extra sappy and I always ask if there are any romantic comedies on, and he's been pretty cute about it and even started recording them for me when I'm not around.

That being said, I don't watch Gossip Girl or 90210, and that would maybe be beyond his limit!

Although I don't hide any shows, I don't usually advertise it when I'm reading silly books, like something from the Shopaholic series. I don't know why, but when it comes to reading I get more embarrassed!

  8. I never find the time (or the money) to attend any classes, and I just came across this great website online, Ultimate Pilates Online

Mat workouts and Specialty workouts are free (and sign-up is easy and instantaneous).

Under Specialty Workouts there is a 50 minute "Bride to Be" workout that targets all the areas us brides are typically worried about. There are also plenty of regular workouts, and short 15 minute workouts that target the butt or abs.

I danced for years, and I can say from experience that these girls practice VERY good and safe technique. It's worth watching the training videos even if you've done lots of pilates before because they mention all sorts of bad habits that pretty much everyone has been guilty of at some point, and they seem to harp on good technique and proper posture more than most instructors.

Anyways, sorry if this has been linked before, but I did a search and it didn't come up. Enjoy!

  9. I love those colors...in fact, they are my wedding colors! I actually have four wedding colors (it's a bit of a long story) but they are those 3 colors plus dark brown. My BMs are wearing brown dresses with a bouquet the same colors as yours (tied in a blue ribbon). I would've preferred to have blue dresses like you, but one of my BMs said she didn't look good in blue sad.gif So basically, I think it all looks great, and I'm even a bit jealous!

  10. I recommend talking to your photographer. I had a rough schedule in mind, and she totally helped me out with getting it nailed down (I had some definite misconceptions that she cleared up). Keep in mind that your planned photography time doesn't have to all be posed. After the ceremony and group shots my FI and I have about 45 minutes of time to ourselves (but it's happening during the cocktail hour so we can make it shorter or longer as we see fit). Since we'll be JUST "just married" we figure it'll be nice to have some time mostly to ourselves, so we're just going to hang out on the beach together as the sun sets, and let the photographer click away. We figure we'll also need the extra time so that we can forget about the photographer and actually get those purely candid shots.

Also clarify the ceremony time with your officiant or WC. My officiant in CR apparently likes to say a bunch of nice things, and it ends up being about 30 minutes (and I would've guessed more like 15).

I would also definitely stand up to your FI on this one! 20 years from now you guys will want to have nice sunset photos of your wedding day, but you certainly won't be sitting around saying "I sure wish it had been 5 degrees cooler during the ceremony"!

Anyways, GL! Schedules are a scary thing :S

  11. You can get convertible dresses on Etsy here in any color. I think she actually has more colors than are shown on the swatches too.

I linked the long one, but if you look at her store she has knee-length as well (for $9cool.gif. That being said, she will custom make the dress to exactly what length you want. If you don't want a straight hem, she may be able to do one similar to what's on the VS dresses.

Besides color choices there are also fabric choices. I am getting the dresses in brown modal jersey, which is apparently made out of recycled driftwood or something (but her normal fabric is rayon jersey, and she also has a more expensive natural "eco" fabric too).

    Anyways, good luck!

  12. I'm probably going to go barefoot, but I'm having my options covered!

I'm getting some super comfy custom Goddess Sandals that match the style of my dress, and I'm also attempting to make some barefoot sandals (ignore the wires sticking out everywhere, I haven't snipped them yet):

I decided against wedges because I didn't want to be taller than my FI, and I also find that they can be hard to walk with depending on how hard-packed the sand is (if I was super short, I'm sure I would've gone for them though!).

  13. First of all, OMG!!!!! I made literally about 30 bookmarks yesterday, and ALL of them are gone. I guess it's b/c my laptop died and it didn't shut down properly, but it managed to save my browser tabs!! I am so distraught sad.gif So many good sites lost forever sad.gif

    Aaaanyways...

Here's a link to a site that sells Coco Rave and Coco Reef (they actually make suits for VS sometimes). You can order things like XS DD's, so it may be helpful for some of you that can't find anything else.

Everything But Water also has a "DD" section and a "support" section that may be of use.

My sister is a 34DD and she wears Beach Bunny swimsuits all the time, but she's in ridiculously good shape and doesn't mind that all their bottoms are brazilian cut.

Now time to post some pictures of swimsuits I'm considering! Most of them are expensive :S

Here's a "bridal" one-piece by Vitamin A. I went shopping in Phoenix and found every single Vitamin A suit EXCEPT This one.

This one scores extra points b/c it has a bunch of my wedding colors in it, and the back is super cute!

Here's a starfish bikini that also comes in pink. Yay for starfish!

Here's more "starfish" wear (I think it's just supposed to be stars). These come in 2 different purples, 2 different blues, coral, black, white, gold and silver.

    Even more starfish!

I'd post more, but too many pictures are on stupid flash websites!

btw, has anyone seen "just married" bottoms in a boyshort style?

  14. ack, i just spent several hours looking at bikinis, and I kept seeing a bunch designed for DD's, but I totally ignored them b/c my flat little chest is somewhere between an A and a B! I'm off to bed, but I'll see if I can relocate some of them tomorrow (I also have a bunch of bathing suit pics to post, but I'm too tired to round them up right now).

I'm definitely going to have to make a big VS order. Between swimwear, lingerie, and cute dresses they have sooooooo much I want, and it's all well priced. I'm going to spend way too much money, but my FI is strangely supportive about this kind of stuff :P
