I've done a search here and haven't come up with anything. I know she's posted on here before.......I was referred to her as an outside WC during communication with Acanto Hotels in PDC.

We are keeping our options open now with possibly just having a beach non-denom. wedding as opposed to a Catholic wedding - but, it's a year away so it's all TBD at this point.

Any feedback from brides/grooms would be appreciated!

Tripadvisor is a great site to help you estimate your costs, and I'm sure brides here will offer great input. We are not doing site visits either so we're relying solely on the internet and great reviews from this site!

I know - it can be pretty overwhelming trying to find just the right place. On the beach? Off the beach?

I'm resurrecting this post in the hopes of getting some feedback. Especially if anyone has worked with either one of these priests (Father Jorge Castaneda or the other one), their experience(s), and what they charged. I recently sent an e-mail in Spanish to the chapel, and someone finally replied today (in Spanish). My Espanol is a bit rusty, but my understanding is it's about $300 US for just the chapel fee for the Capilla Nuestra Senora del Carmen - not including the priest fee or to have the wedding conducted in English. I'm trying to plan this all without hiring a WC if at all possible, because we are just having a small ceremony and MAY have our parents along and possibly a few other family members. So if anyone could provide info on either of these English-speaking priests, that would be great!

I guess this is one of those cases where it is buyer beware. Not that I'm endorsing Bridalonlinestore or anything, but they do have a case study about dresses from China that is quite an eye-opener. Yes, many clothes are made overseas, but there's a HUGE difference between an everyday t-shirt, and a dress you're going to wear on a very special day.

Guess I'll have to keep saving!

Welcome and congrats! Well that's comforting - since I don't have set dates either! I've been researching Cabo, Puerto Vallarta and Playa del Carmen - and it'll be in 2010.

I wouldn't fret on the packages thing - like BillysBride says just check out the 2009 rates and anticipate a mark-up from there, that's what I'm doing too.

We're planning to get married in early 2010 but I am taking into consideration Spring Break and Easter, Mexican holidays, and hurricane season, AND since we're one of those couples who has to pay for this whole thing on their own, it's still up in the air. We're shooting for Feb. 2010 or latest, April 2010. We aren't going the resort route. I read a lot of good things about boutique hotels via Tripadvisor and think it'd be nice to stay at a smaller, more intimate place.

This is a great topic! Like others have said I guess you'll know when you try it on and you know it's "the one".......

I myself know I can't have a whole lot of fabric, since I'm petite, and I've come across quite a few dresses I like online, but the verdict will be easier once I start trying some on.

I haven't gotten an e-mail back, either. My FH's mom may have to call down there for us - she speaks fluent Spanish.

I had seen Peridress online before - very tempting prices - not sure they're worth the hassle though, I've seen some bad reviews on them. This might be a case of "buyer beware" - even if it is just for TTD.

I like Tripadvisor. I think it's very helpful BUT, don't read too much into it. I like how Abbie put it - some people are just prone to complaining about everything. If there are more good posts than bad I would think that's a good sign. Just check the hotel sites also and see if they fit your needs.

Hi Melanie - congrats and welcome. As it's already been said, this forum is great, you can do searches and read reviews and posts and recommendations from others. Who knows, you may even decide you don't want to go the resort route at all! )
