  1. We have David Flores booked for our wedding in three weeks. Since we're a small group using him for ceremony and cocktail hour I thought it would be cool to get our first dance in using his music vs. an ipod- haivng our first dance to kick off the cocktail hour. I have been begging for his music list but the only thing I got back from my wedding planner is 2 ceremony songs- not first dance material. For those that have used him, did he play any recognizable songs? Or any you think could possibly work for a first dance? All others, any ideas on songs that would work well for a spanish guitarist to see if he can play...I'm guessing it's too late for him to learn but I figure I might as well try, give him a big list and see if he knows them. Thanks!
  2. We're a small group (1 having a "reception" dinner at Cabo Surf and since we don't have a DJ or band there we were planning to go out afterwards- fiance and I are always on the dance floor acting like idiots at others weddings so we have to get some dancing in on our own wedding night. Group ranges from college-aged brothers to our fun-loving parents- all up for dancing but don't want to take them to a completely crazy, spring-break, techno spot. Any ideas of where to go? Think everyone would love a place that played wedding-party music, oldies or maybe a good salsa band? Would love if there were a spot in San Jose del Cabo because that is where our accomodations are, but traveling into Cabo is what wedding planner recommended. Thanks for any suggestions- I'm going early so hope to check out some spots. On another note, did any of you go out also and did you wear your dress?
  3. I thought I read on this forum about someone who did a scavenger hunt- amazing race style as their welcoming night event. Anyone know if I read that on here and can point me to the right post? Tried a search but didn't come up....too many wedding resources out there! Do you think you could come up with enough scavenger-type things for around San Jose del Cabo? I think my guests would love it but thinking it would all have to be on foot.........
  4. Looking for help, please! We are hosting the wedding just for 20 family and we have people coming in at different times/dif. days. Because of that (and the way our timeshare is) we are having the wedding on Saturday and the "rehearsal dinner" or dinner hosted by groom's family on Sunday. We were worried to have the groom's dinner on Friday in case people had trouble getting in.... So, we originally thought a sunset cruise on Friday would be nice. My mom (who has been down there) brought up the logistics and why this may not work if we're in San Jose: transportation costs, length of drive to Cabo and also fact that my grandma, 2-year-old nephew and newly-pregnant sister may not enjoy the public boat cruise quite as much. So we're looking at other options but it has to be casual and can't seem like a formal dinner (b/c don't want to overshadow the groom's dinner and mother-in-law is sensitive) Thinking some sort of activity followed by taco bar or something on beach? Does anyone know of any boat tour leaving out of San Jose? Any other ideas? THANK YOU! This forum has been so helpful and appreciate hearing from you!
  5. Interested in bridesmaid dress, size 6. Still available? if so can you give me the brand and style number? Or send more pics of front? Thanks, Lauren
  6. Any brides out there not using a chuppah or canopy for your altar? The options in Cabo are pricey and I think I'd like to spend the money elsewhere. Can you post or send any cute ideas for aisle decorations? Also, who carried decorations down there vs. renting? Thanks, Lauren
  7. I think we've decided on Cabo Surf too! This August for only 20. Would love to hear more of your planning and exchange ideas.
  8. Hi cabo forum- I've been spending some serious time reading through all the great advice on here and was hoping i could get some help/direction to post from you well-educated cabo people. Really excited about cabo but want these decisions made!!! Our situation-Aug. 15, 18 people total- immediate family, looking at accomodations in san jose close to my aunt's place at alegranza, we'd like to find a secluded-feeling scenic spot for a simple ceremony and then host a dinner reception at one of the nicer restaurants in town. We like natural beauty, off-the-beaten path places and would prefer to not have this at a big resort. What are some other options? We're having a big reception at home too so we don't want to spend more than around $3,500-4,000 on ceremony and reception. all we need- a beach or ocean view spot (public beach, villa options?), ceremony music, chairs would be nice but not necessary, restaurant with good atmosphere and good food. Brother will officiate symbolic ceremony, flowers/decoration diy. Would think we can pull this off for the cost, right? The coordinator i've been in touch with has narrowed down to pitahayas restaurant- ceremony on beach out front. I'm the type of person that wants to uncover every stone to make sure i'm not overlooking a fantastic find. If you can point me to any different, unique locations i would appreciate it. Any one heard of a boat taking you to a beach for the ceremony and having the reception dinner on board or dropping off close to restaurant? i'd be willing to get my dress a little wet! in august it would prob. feel great! THANK YOU!!!
  9. Hi! Name: Lauren Location: Unsure, possibly Moon Dance Cliffs Date: Unsure Very unsure but needing to nail down by end of January....pressure is on from family who are ready for us to step out of the "enjoying the engagement" phase. On a $12,000 budget. Deciding whether to have destination wedding or stay close to home (atlanta-which I'm finding is still very difficult to pull off with budget) Any Moon Dance Cliffs brides that can help out on whether this is feasible on our budget? Given our guests pay for hotel stay? Or any other quick flight locations that work well- would prefer small resorts. Thanks!
