  1. I got married at the Riu Palace Punta Cana in January, and there was definately a "musty" smell in some of the rooms. Ours wasn't too bad, but we definitely had to wash things a few times when we got back. I don't know if it is a DR problem or a hotel problem, as it is so humid there. I did go to the Macao on a different visit, and they had the same problem. Overall, it didn't ruin the trip though, just bring some bags to keep your clothes in (my wedding dress was triple bagged) and some air freshener and you'll be fine. And have you looked at the Bambu too? I didn't see much of the Taino, but the other hotels seemed nicer.
  2. I can't believe I leave in two days! I have most everything packed and ready to go, so now it's time for last minute pampering. I'm just praying for everything to go smoothly and for the sun to be shining. Thanks to everyone, your advice and hints on this board has been so much help in my planning!
  3. Hi everyone. I leave in less than 2 weeks (ahh!) and I am now trying to pull together music for our ceremony. How many songs did everyone use for each part of the ceremony? I so far have 4 songs for when people are getting seated, only 1 song for the processional (Over the Rainbow, not sure if I will need two due to time?), 1 song for the license signing, and 1 for the recessional (trying to decide between Jason Mraz or Beach Boys). Anyways, is this enough? Do I need two for the processional (I haven't been to the resort but the pictures show it may be a longer aisle). More for the seating at the beginning? Thanks so much for your help, this board has been invaluable to me.
  4. I'm getting married there in January. I've never been before, but my parents went last year to check out the resort. I can give you an update once I get back, so far things have been fairly easy, it seems like we decide a lot once we get down there. Congrats!
  5. Thanks everyone. For some reason this is a sticking point, but I still really like the shirts. THere is just that lingering doubt that didn't use to be there until my mom brought it up.
  6. Hi everyone. So I am getting married on the beach in Punta Cana in January, and the dress code is "beach dressy" if you will. Basically I am wearing a traditional (although lightweight) wedding gown, my groom is wearing a khaki suit and ivory shirt (no tie). My bridesmaids are wearing a basic blue cotton sundress from J-Crew, and the groomsmen are wearing ivory short sleeve linen shirts and khakis. My question is: I have found this shirt for my father and future father in law to wear. Tommy Bahama 'Zen Garden' Linen Campshirt It is an ivory color, but brings in the blue of the girls as well. My mom is afraid that my dad's shirt will distract from me (heaven forbid) as he walks me down the aisle, and that I will regret it in pictures later. I'd love everyone's thoughts on if this shirt will look overly busy next to me, and if so, what should he wear? I don't want him in plain ivory, as I think that is just too much ivory and khaki. Thanks so much for your help!
