  1. Hey Dan. Unfortunately in order to have a legal wedding in Huatulco (or anywhere in Mexico) you have to have the blood tests taken IN Mexico. They will not let you take them in Canada/USA. This is a big reason alot of people opt for a symbolic ceremony in Mexico and have a quick legal ceremony at home. Having said that, there are people who do get blood tests done and have the legal ceremony down there and I havent heard of any problems. Good luck!

  2. Hi ladies :) Its been ages since I have been here but just wanted to pop in and say hi.

I see some of you met up, I would love to meet up one of these times but I am out of town for teh long weekend on the 29th. I'll check back to see what you plan for the August meet up! Happy Stampeding!

  3. Wow Cassie, I haven't been on here in ages but I apparently came on at the right time. Is it really your wedding already?! Time flies - I still remember when you got engaged like it was yesterday. You did so much and your planning thread is incredible, you outdid yourself! Congrats & Best of luck on the big day!!!

  4. I LOVE THIS SHOW! I think i cried multiple times last night when they did the house calls. Makes me so happy for some of them when all their hard work pays off and then also makes me so sad for the ones that dont make it.

i agree some of the better dancers did let go but they all state that they dont just take the BEST dancers, they take dancers that will grow on teh show, that the audience will connect with and that have good personalities. So i can see why some were chosen over others for sure. Cant wait for tonight

  5. We never registered.. I actually didnt even want a shower b/c I didnt want people spending money on us when they were already coming to mexico. But my mom threw me a surprise shower so I had one regardless and it was fun. She must have given them all ideas of things we would want or need so we made out well.

As for wedding gifts, we were actually really surprised. I think we got a gift from everyone that came to our wedding except two couples?? And we had 62 people at our wedding. And then outside of that, we got probably another 20 gifts from people who couldnt come. We really werent expecting anything.

  6. I get what Alison is saying too, but my thing is that she never should have committed to being your MOH and coming to the wedding in the first place if she felt like she didtn want to be there. And then to back out as your MOH, followed by backing out of coming to the wedding at all is ridiculas. She should have just been honest with you and said ti was alot of money and she only has so many vacation days so as much as she would want to be there, she won't be able to go. Why can't people just tell the truth?! This happens all the time and we had alot of people do the same thing - granted they were not our best friends so i feel for you- its hard not to take it to heart but in the end the people WHO WANT to be there will be there, and those that don't, well its there loss sad.gif Weddings bring out the best and the worst in people unfortunately. And its hard not to be jaded when the tables are turned towards them after.

    Chin up!!

  7. Yah you could try the airline but this happened wtih me too.. my gf booked me a ticket to go down and see her at the end of the month and used my old last name not my new last name.. I have my married last name on my new passport so she called continental to ask them to change it and they refused, they said there is nothing they can do. Luckily for me i have my marriage certificate with both my last names though.

Ask them about canceling and repurchasing hte ticket. The only problem will be they will charge you any difference in the price and also charge you a fee for changing it.

It will all work out!!! Things always do!!

  8. I think we should plan a get together one of these weekends to go for happy hour drinks or something? I know weekends fill up fast in the summer ( i think i have something every weekend starting next weekend until mid august sad.gif ) but we could even try like a thursday or something? anyone up for that?

  9. her name is lynda Halliday (google it and you will get her website and info)..

Yes, you get your marriage license at a registry here prior to your legal ceremony(they are only valid for so many days, I want to say 60 - i think we got ours on a tuesday and got married on the thursday).. then you go get married, and if you use lynda she sends in everything for you so by the time you get back from your wedding and honeymoon your marriage will be registered and you will be able to go in to a registry and order your marriage certificate (takes two days).

For down in mexico you dont need anything if you are having a symbolic wedding. I just talked to my wedding planner and let her know that we were doing a 'symbolic' wedding but wanted it to look 'real'. She said she would take care of it and provide certificates etc for us to sign to make it look real.

    Does that make sense?

  10. Hi girls :)

We totally had fake certificates to sign at the ceremony to make it look more official. Even though just the two of us signed adn then the 'minister'. Noone has ever questioned anything. The lady I used that Meaghan is talking about is really affordable and nice. I definitely recommend getting in touch with her!

  11. Boo, I wouldnt worry about people not booking yet.. your wedding is still pretty far away.. Most people usually will put down a deposit or else just not book until like 3 or 4 mths before the wedding.. We even had people book the month or two before.
