  1. I agree with talking to flight attendants!!

I chose to play "dumb" and brought my dress in a garment bag (even though another bride on the flight was told to pack hers!!!! She was pissed when she saw me with my dress.) I told the check-in that I wanted to bring it as carry-on and they let me.

I flew Air Transat and there were no closest, BUT what we did was lie the dress across all the bags in the overhead. It actually worked out REALLY well and the dress was fine. Mind you, mine was all lace (no silk to wrinkle), but I think it worked out perfectly.

My good friend is getting married in Cuba in a few months and she's going to do the same thing; show up at the check-in with her dress in-hand and tell them she's taking it onboard as carry-on.

They're usually pretty accomodating for brides!! :)

As for the groom's suit: We packed my husband's pants/shirt tie. There was an iron at the resort, but we just made sure to take everything out of the suitcase right away and hang it all up.

    Good luck!

  2. Wow, thanks ladies -- sorry I'm a bit slow to get back to you all!! :)

It brings back great memories to see this thread again. *sigh*

The bags I bought on special at La Vie en Rose (a Montreal lingerie store like Victoria's Secret).

And the "Welcome to Paradise" letter; I'd love to share the template, but the laptop that I originally had all the documents on got a virus and crashed. I lost alot of docs, including that one. :( I'm so sorry! I can try and find an original and send you the text (I'll just retype it) if you'd like! Send me an email and let me know: [email protected]

    Thanks again ladies!! :)

  3. Wow, congrats ladies!! Never thought I'd be on this thread ... but I'm 2 months pregnant (still early days, I know) and had to share the good news!! :)

I get to hear my baby's heartbeat next Tuesday and I cannot wait. :)

  4. If there was any way to discover if other brides had their wedding the same week as you, you might be able to share their photographer ...

I'm sorry that's all I can think of, short of finding another one and paying a higher price...

I'm so sorry this happened to you. sad.gif Why did you photog quit?! That's horrible 4 months before the wedding!!! I hope she had a valid reason ... then again, no reason is valid when it comes to ruining your wedding vision ... sad.gif

    *huge hugs*

  5. Hi ladies!! I know it's been absolutely ages since I posted, and I'm sorry about that. I have been trolling around though and lurking in threads over the months.

So, my friend finally got engaged and she's decided to follow in my footsteps and is heading to Cuba to do the deed! She doesn't own a computer so I've been doing a lot of research for her and helping her out as much as I can.

They chose Melia Las Dunas and will be getting hitched in June 2011. I am a guest and my husband is the photographer.

Can any of you MLD brides offer advice? What she should do/shouldn't do?

    Thanks ladies!!

  6. I agree Sarah does incredible work!!!! She did my AHR invites and I couldn't have been happier -- absolutely stunning work. All the guests commented on them and said they still have them! My mother-in-law still has hers hanging on the fridge she loves it so much (and the party was a year ago).

Sarah - I'm so happy you're so busy!!! It means the world is catching on to your greatness. ;-) Good luck with everything!

  7. I want to revive this thread because I love it so much!!! Here's another one of mine just to get the ball rolling ... I know there are plenty of newly wed BDWers out there who can add to this thread!! cheer2.gif

This is a shot of my father giving his speech at dinner ... he made everyone cry!! And when he got to my husband and I, he couldn't even get the words out, he just came over and gave us both the biggest hug while we all cried. It sounds sad, but it makes me so happy to remember that moment.

  8. Yeah it takes about 3-4 months. We got married last May and I think our certificate came via FedEx around September ... it took awhile! If you're worried, you can try contacting your wedding coordinator at the resort where you were married. Ours kept in touch with us and even emailed us after we signed for the certificate with FedEx to make sure it really was us who picked it up. :) Congrats on the wedding by the way!!

  9. So glad I found this - I was silly to think you lovely ladies wouldn't have something like this on BDW!!! ;-)

    Starting P90X tonight!!

    Goal weight: Lose 20 lbs

Goal date: 90 days from today!

Diet plan: Keep eating clean/raw. I already eat fairly healthy, so just keep my portion sizes down and have the protein shakes as well.

I'm a bit scared at the intensity of the workouts ... but I think if I combine it with my once-a-week Zumba (on my "rest" day) then I'm going to see RESULTS.

I've been trying to lose the same bloody 15-20 lbs for years now, and I'm getting pretty freakin' fed up. It's timed I kicked my flab in the butt, and I think Tony is the man to make me do it. :-p

I'll be taking my Day 1 fatty photos tonight too and I think that scares me more than the workout. LOL

Awesome work ladies for those who are sticking to the plan, and even those who are struggling with it ... you're still trying and that's half the battle!!!! :)

  10. ^^^

Lady DJ's got the right idea. While I think it is just skin, and possibly the dress not pulled up correctly the best thing to do is push-ups/plank, or lat pull-downs.

However, if you don't own a machine or have no time for the gym, then push-ups it is. Don't do excessive amounts (that's pointless) try for 3 sets of 12 (real push-ups) or start with 3 sets of 8 and work your way up. And start with a plank for 30 seconds, then work your way up to 1 min, 1.30, 2 etc.

If you have a bar at home, you can also do bent-over rows. This will strengthen your shoulders, back, core and legs. It's one of those complex movements.

Either way, I think you already look absolutely GORGEOUS in your dress ...

    Congrats!!!

    - M.

  11. Hey ladies!!!

So, I just had to share this with you all. I'm a writer/editor and I just published a piece in the Canadian mag, Bride & Groom about destination weddings, and the editor asked to use a picture of my husband and I at our wedding! I was so excited to see the outcome (we're on the last page).

Oh, and I gave a nice little shout out to BestDestinationWedding.com as well in the text!!!
