  1. I think I may have put the cart before the horse (my dad tells me I do that a lot)...

I've planned lots of events as well as did some group travel arrangements while I was in college (to conferences), so when I started thinking about doing a DW, it didn't even occur to me to look at getting a travel agent.

I contacted the Resort (Moon Palace) directly and put in an RFP for a Room Block of 25-30 rooms. I think I remember reading somewhere that the resort will provide my guests a link to reserve online.

My side of the family is pretty travel savvy and will likely figure things out on their own (they own timeshares and go to Mexico all the time) -- but I'm worried about FI's family as well as our friends.

Do I need a TA? Is it the easiest thing for my guests or should I let them handle booking airfare themselves?

What is the advantage of using a TA?

    Thank you!!

I found whole limes, super cheap there!! Crafts, Etc! ® - Mini Lime Pick

    And...

I found sliced limes here (in case anyone else gets a hankering to experiment with them) ... This is the cheapest I found:

Artificial Fruit - Artificial Vegetables - Fake Fruit - Fake Vegetables

There is lots of other faux produce on that site.
  3. Hey Everyone,

Not sure if this is the right section to post to... but...

My FI and I are ballroom dancers, so naturally, people are expecting us to do some sort of fantastic waltz (aye) for our first dance. We are also considering having our dance instructor come with us to Mexico to teach a lesson to the group... But... I've never danced outside and was *fingers crossed* hoping that someone has had their reception and danced on an outside terrace and could tell me if it was easy/hard to dance on.

    Thanks :)

PS: The waltz's we are considering are It is You (I have Loved) and Waltz for Jennifer (its a V Waltz).

  4. Jennifer,

I'm not sure if they will let you get married in the grass... somewhere around page 40 I posted 2 attachments for the ceremony and reception sites. If you are looking for something like that picture... Look in the reception sites PDF and look at the Terrace Tucan or the Terrace Venado.

Andrea (http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t18071) posted in her review that she got married on the Tucan Terrace.

For what it is worth, I'd look in to it.

Oh geez... I didn't think about that... I am *hoping* everyone is going to want to book at Moon Palace -- the resort is big enough that I think we will be able to avoid a lot of conflict... although, with our families I'm not so sure that will be possible.

    Hmm... lots to decide.
  6. Is Cancun in the Riviera Maya?

I want to put Riviera Maya on my STDs and Invites... because it sounds more romantic than Cancun (which reminds me of MTV spring break). Just want to make sure that it is accurate to put that on there...

Maybe the location in Cancun matters? I'm getting married at Moon Palace.

Sorry if this was just a lame-brained question. It's been a long week.

  7. I am trying to figure out what to put on a belly band for my invitations (since I'm not in to starfish/sea shells... yet) -- and I thought some fake lime slices might be super cute and simple/elegant.

I'm not sure where exactly to buy them... I see a few places online that will sell them to me for 1-1.50 each. Does anyone know of some place that I could do it cheaper?

Or... alternatively... is there any way to make something that looks like a lime slice?

  8. Hey ladies... I've just begun the research on doing my wedding at MP in Feb 2010 (just 1.5 months longer than 2009!)-- can I post here too? :). My name is AshleyRose and I'm from Seattle.

I've been reading through this whole thread and there is so much great information. I called Palace Resorts last week and immediately was sent two really great PDFs that have all the ceremony locations and all the reception locations. It was nice for me to have them all in one place -- including the max occupancy.

Thought they might help someone else as well if they are looking at MP. There are SOOO many options!

  9. Seattle is a gorgeous city!! When it is sunny, you know... the like 3 weeks we get between August and September... the city just sparkles. It is so beautiful.

Enjoy your time in Seattle. :)

  10. Hello Ladies,

I'm so amazed at all the hard work you have done for your weddings... and whats more... that you share your tips and tricks with everyone.

My name is AshleyRose and we haven't set an exact date yet, but we are looking at Feb 2010 at the Moon Palace.

Still trying to sell our friends and family on the idea (my dad is super excited, but that's about it) -- but from a practical standpoint, DW ie what will likely best for us. I hope 18 months is enough time to give our friends/family time to save.

Looking forward to many many exciting months to come!

    -AshleyRose
