  1. Thanks so much for the info, everyone. I really appreciate it. I guess I went first to the registrar's office because I knew that they typically handled it locally. I've actually had folks (like at my bank) say they needed to see my marriage license in order to change my name. But hopefully they'll just take the social security card

  3. Try their mango-filled fry jacks - So delicious! My hubby loved their huge breakfast burrito too.
  4. Hi! I got married in Belize on May 30. Back home, I've run into a problem I wonder if anyone else has encountered. I went to my county (Isanti County, MN) registrars office to register my wedding certificate. They took a copy and charged me $40 to file it. HOWEVER, because the paperwork doesn't include a change of name line, they say I need to go through the court system and pay $250 for an official name change. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? How did you fix it? The ladies in the office told me this issue isn't addressed by the state of Minnesota at all, and that's why they tell people to go through the court system. Yet one brought up that when she married 30+ years ago, the MN paperwork at that time didn't include a change of name - and she still changed her name. It seems to me I can't be the first person to have this problem and not want to plunk down $250. Any advice would be much appreciated.
  5. Hello! My name is Tesha and my husband and I wed on the beach in Belize on May 30. It was beautiful - and we have the pictures to prove it. We went down with a pastor lined up (Rev. David Simpson who does hundreds of weddings a year) and a photograher (Kay Scott Kay Scott: Wedding Photography on Ambergris Caye in Belize). So we started looking for a place to say our vows about 1 week before the scheduled date. We began having breakfast at a beach restaurant called Estels, with a friendly waiter named Robert. When we asked his advice about having our wedding at another restaurant, he told us we could always do it there at Estel's. We looked at each other and knew we'd find our place. The turquoise-colored building let in the sea breezes and was within feet of the water. It turned out to be one of our best decisions. The day of the wedding, the guys (we had 13 with us) went fishing and caught a great selection of fish. Estel's grilled them for a mere $8 a plate. They also swept the beach and had it looking wonderful when I walked up. Estel's staff was so attentive - the best service we saw on the island. And they make a perfect sangria and 5-gallon bucket of rum punch! Reb. David Simpson led us through a 15-minute ceremony - to which my childhood best friend added a poem. My husband and I made it meaningful by reading to each other a list we'd prepared previously on the topic: I Love You Because... Then after the wedding ceremony WE GOT WET! Oh, we had fun.
