  1. Hello all, It's been a while since I have been on but I just finally caught up on all these great posts. I was going to do the whole Ipod/Sound-dock route and forgo the dj but I think for peace of mind and one less thing to worry about I have decided to go w/ a DJ. I know the 2 predominent DJ's on here are Swank & Carlo and was curious as to what I can expect to pay?? Did you find that they negotiated with you on price?? Thanks

Maybe it was my bad and I misunderstood what you were looking for. Sorry

Missy, I think I saw you mention that Perla said she had an idea for a performance...I haven't found yet if you posted what that was. Could you let me know if she got back to you on that? Hello, You should check out Ajua weddings! They have a ton of different music/entertainment options at prices alot more reasonable then the Paradisus even with the 300 outside vendor fee tacked on. Just a thought
  4. hello girls, I haven't been on here lately but just spent all day catching up on your posts. As always so much great info!! We decided to move our May 15th wedding to Oct just b/c people were freaking out BUT that leaves us w/out a photographer as the one we were initially going to use can't make it in Oct. HELP!!!! Del Sol & Elizabeth Medina are booked. Who else is there I could call that you girls could recommend? Does anybody know how MexicanWeddingPhotos (Paradisus's on-site photographer) are I wasn't all that impressed w/ their web-site compared to all the others. Help!!!!!
  5. Hello girls, What are the girls getting married around May 15th thinking about this swine flu. I am trying not to panick but it is only 2.5 weeks away. What are the freaking odds this happens NOW. Is anybody's guests starting to panick and thinking about backing out??

But generally, the food is really, really good so I wouldn't worry. but if you want an alternative to meats, their fish was super! Do you happen to recall what type of fish it was? thanks!!!!!
  7. Hello, Rebecca or Robin just curious if you went w/ a chicken dish and which one you picked They only seem to have one option for chicken stuffed w/ cheese and just not sure about it. Thanks!!!!

Not that we did programs - we didn't have a bridal party and it wasn't one of those things that was all that important to me. We did hang tags with the "Symbolism of the Starfish" and little silver starfish on each of our fans. We are doing the symbolic wedding as well so I am going to ask her if she can put me in touch w/ him. The name of your guy wasn't Alejandro Monroy by chance
  9. Hello all, Is anybody doing programs I wanted to do them but since I can't speak to the officiant beforehand I am not sure what to include for the order of events.....

They treated me like a queen and everything was beautiful...I loved it. The only advice i have is make sure you double check everything and stick to your e-mails because unfortunatelly they don't treat everyone the same. Both Daniela and Perla where great and my wedding was beautiful. Can't wait for the pics.....The resort is very beautiful....very happy we picked that hotel. Welcome back!!!! I hope your wedding was everything and more!! I am curious to know how your flowers worked out b/c I think you went with Julietta right

Now we're starting to concentrate on the details - in particular the music. Instead of doing live music (which would be our first choice) or a DJ, we are considering going the iPod route. Though I did receive a quote from Luis at Swank for $1466. But after reading some of the earlier posts, does this mean even if I don't use them I will be billed for 15% of the original quote? Also, is $1466 for 4 hours reasonable? We would love to do live music, but $1200 for 45 minutes is unfortunately not within our budget. Is anyone doing live music and able to find a better deal? If we do go with the iPod, can anyone tell me what arrangements we will need to make? We'll need a sound system of course. We also would like to do a projection screen so we can air a photo slideshow during the cocktail hour and buffet and then play our favorites music DVDs for the dance party - sorta like a concert experience. I have asked about this from Perla, but have not heard back. Do we use Swank for the equipment or does the resort take care of that? Any advice you can give is very much appreciated!!! Happy to have found and be a part of this forum! Thanks! Brooke Hi Brooke, Ajua weddings is who I am using for my music and their prices are way better then the Paradisus even w/ the 300 outside vendor fee. Just a thought
  12. Somebody on here gave me the idea of Flowers by Julietta and she seems to have very good prices and is great at getting back to you. If anybody wanted to try and make their own centerpieces she can even get bulk flowers. If you had her deliver the arrangements/flowers there would be a 300$ fee from the Paradisus but you could always go pick them up and save the 300$. Just a thought for those unsure of what they are going to do about flowers.

  14. Hello everybody, For those of you who have allready gotten married at the Paradisus. How did you go about getting the information needed to make your programs? I don't think I am able to contact the officiant to find out the order in which he performs the ceremony. Thanks!!
  15. So I was wondering where everybody's fiancee's are going to look for suits. I am not sure if it's to early in the year or what but alot of stores don't seem to have that good of a selection of lighter suits for the beach.

Also where did you get them and how many did you buy, enough to cover the entire terrace? Last question haha did you get the ones that plugged in or did you put the LED lights in the inside of the individual lanterns. Sorry for all the questions.

However, she will honor that to me because I had the e-mail where they told me that if it was the same company providing the services I would only pay the one time fee. She told me the same thing you only pay 300 per outside vendor. I was sure to write it out clearly in the email and of course I am saving it if she tries to say it is something different.
  18. For those brides that used an Ipod Bose Sound dock. Based on the way dinner is set up where is the best place to have it set up thanks!!!!!

Thank You! I guess my confusion is based on the fact that there are several different price points for dinner? 60, 70, 75. They don't even list S & T on the banquet information but they mention it on a seperate package where if I remember correctly it is about 70 per person? So confusing

There are also diagrams for the set up for everything as well. There are also a few things that are highlighted that I wanted to bring to your discussion - a couple of questions but also a few things that I cannot recall whether we decided on something specific. I have also indicated some things in red - these are specific items that I am bringing down! I don't have enough points to access this page would you mind emailing it to me at [email protected] thanks!!!!
  21. Hello, Is anybody considering doing Surf & Turf as their meal or had it as their meal and if so has she quoted you any kind of price I got this in response to my ? about a price but there are multiple price points on the banquet information she gave me? Dear Crystal, For the surf & turf you need to add $20USD plus 15% of service to the price that I already give you for the dinner. Regards, Perla Cervantes Moreno

So.. um yeah like a grand in outside vendor fees ** you girls that have had the dancefloor on the beach- worth it? How was dancing on the terrace for those that didn't do the beach thing? I am having like 28 ppl.. Hello! I was curious does Perla charge for the Mariachi band per person or per vendor I am nervous about asking her b/c it might put the idea in her head to charge per person. Haha Thanks

  24. Hello everybody!! I don't get a chance to post much but I read all the posts and they have been very helpful. I was just curious what everybody is doing for music - ceremony, reception etc. I am thinking about doing a strings ensemble of some sort for the ceremony but worry about them being drowned out by the waves I would love to hear what everybody else is thinking about doing.
