  1. Been to Riu Palace Mexico. Really not much nightlife. A little more upscale and reserved. A few people hanging out at the lobby bar. But, you can go over to the Tequila for the nightclub if that is the vibe you are looking for.
  2. I changed it because fiance just too excited... didn't want too wait that long! Oh well.
  3. Jackie, Have you been to weddingmexico.com? It is a great resource. Details packages each of the areas resorts offer and also lists pricing. Not using them to book (never emailed me back), but it is a good place to scan info.
  4. I have been to the RUI Palace Mexico. Very nice. Beach is nice, but pretty crowded (during high season). Also, when I went a lot of the beach had eroded and caused a large drop off right before the water… but everywhere in Playacar was like that. Still a very beautiful resort! They also have a really nice chapel inside in case of bad weather. Just let me know if you have any specific questions about the report. Oh also, if you stay there, your guests have the option of staying at the 3 other sister Riu resorts surrounding it to make it a little more affordable. The Yucatan is probably the next one down in preference under the Palace. If you stay at the Palace, you could go visit friends and family at the sister resorts but they can’t come see you (you might like the alone time). They all share the same beach though. Hope this helps!
  5. Just about a week ago! Just started the planning process. Family already hounding me for details, so this weekend I sat down and sorted it all out. I feel like 5/28/08 is forever away, but that really is the best time for me. Spring of 07 is just too quick to me, summer is so busy (we spend a lot of time at the lake), then fall comes and it is rainy/hurricane season (too much stress for me) and the the holidays are crazy for me at work. So really Spring of 08 seems to make the most sense for us. In May schools gets out and it is low season making it more affordable for everyone to attend. When I told everyone I want a destination wedding I guess that they just expected me to get it done right away. Everyone acts like I have the longest engagement ever... but oh well... it is my wedding. Too much info maybe.... sorry I am a rambler!
  6. I have set a date for 5/23/08 at the Catalonia Playa Maroma. I am thinking anywhere from 15-40 will show. Thought it would only be family but a ton of people have shown interest. Plus, we are going during the "low season" so it will be pretty cheap. Picked resort because we have been to Maroma Beach before it and was amazing. Voted best beach by Travel Channel in the past. The resort we chose used to cater exclusively to Italians but has switched ownership. It is a 3-4 star. Went with it rather than a 5 star to may it more affordable for guests. Not sure where we will honeymoon after, maybe head over to Cozumel.
  7. Hello gals! My name is Jennifer. My finance Dusty and I are planning a beach wedding near Playa Del Carmen tentatively for May 23, 2008. I have no idea on how many to expect! Just got started planning!
