I would want my reception to go beyond 9 and my WC, Elsa, said the only way to extend the reception was to do it indoors. Is anyone else running into this dilemma? Has anyone seen the ballrooms in person? I haven't yet, but we're doing a site visit in Oct. or Nov.
Emily- if you have pics of the ballrooms let me know! I would actually love to see any pics you have!
Hola Alicia415,
We've done many weddings at the Gran Caribe Real and Royal Cancun and our most recent ones said yes to the Ballrooms!! Here are some pictures to help you visualize your day:
The advantage of the Ballrooms is that you don't have to worry about rain, you have tons of privacy to dance the night away and truly be yourself while we play with the light for some super creative shots
Hope these images and tips help you and wish you all the best!

I did however bring my own decorations too as you can see from the pics that del sol posted. By the way, del sol was sooooo amazing and next weekend is our AHR where we will be showing off all of their hugely talented gift of photography. Just book them, as those pictures are priceless and will be the one thing that remains after that very special day. Wilma was amazing and so helpful. Don't stress it ladies, it was picture perfect! My only complaint would be with dj doremixx who showed up 2 hours late! Luckily, Wilma had the resort dj cover until then, and I didn't notice until she told me. Doremixx never apologized nor offered an explanation. They didn't even come up to say hello! Oh well, I didn't let it bother me, but I wouldn't be booking them.
Otherwise, the Playacar Palace was spectacular: small, quaint, with excellent service! All of my guests were really impressed!
I did my hair and makeup with styling trio and they were awesome! I totally recommend them!
Good luck ladies!

Thanks!
Hola Travelbugg,
Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!
Maroma is often nominated one of the BEST beaches in the world and it's not that far away from the main attractions in the area: Mayan temples, cenotes, zip-lines, horse back riding, etc... You do need to take 20 minute cab ride if you want to go to downtown but if you have beach lovers in your party, they should be fine with that
Playacar Palace on the other hand, is conveniently located within walking distance of the heart of Playa del Carmen and is great venue for small wedding parties. It's also family friendly so the little ones are welcomed here too!!
Here are some slide shows of weddings we've done at both locations to help you visualize your day:

Hello Ladies,
I'm super excited to share with you my most recent GCR Wedding!!! Jessica + John said yes to an elegant beach wedding by Alquimia Events, followed by a cocktail hour with appetizers on the beach and a private and fun reception at the Villa Terrace. We loved this reception location as it's private and has a great ocean view!!
Hope you enjoy these pictures:

i think itll be pretty bright sunshine wise so not quite sure how i will see anything without sunglasses but ill do my best! debating gazebo versus beach but im thinking the beach might be windier and mess up my hair before the other ceremony. mmmm decisions decisions! seems such a pity to be in the riviera maya and NOT to have a beach ceremony though......
Hola JessiTaylor,
We have done weddings at both locations: Gazebo and Beach and I guess it all depends at what time is your wedding and if you mind onlookers or not. The Gazebo is a bit more private but the beach is nice and can accommodate any size group.
Know too that if you get married in the Gazebo, you can do your portrait session on the beach, so you don't miss out on having images of the gorgeous Caribbean waters
Here are some images and slide shows that might help you make a decision:
