Hola diddles13,

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!

With Esencia you can't go wrong!!! It's by far one of our favorite locations for superb service, great food, gorgeous beach and incredible team!

I have never been to Esencia but it looks amazing! We did extensive research on Esencia when planning our wedding, but ended up picking Le Reve instead. We are hoping to stay there for a few days on our anniversary trip next summer. Good luck and happy planning - you are so lucky to be getting married at such a beautiful, exclusive resort!

Anyway, I did just get married there in May of this year. It was amazing, unbelievable. PM me if you have more questions!

Unless you had a special negotiation with del Sol (which would be really surprising) they have the copyright to your photos, which I believe means they can do anything they want with them. Our contract with del Sol had a model release saying that we grant them the permission to use our photos without any restriction or approval form us. I found this to be a good thing; I would love our pictures to be shared! Your wedding looked gorgeous by the way - I especially loved your hair!! Congrats on your marriage :)

Yeah, I've heard bad things about Del Sol in my search for a photographer and decided to go with someone else. I think its terrible that they own your pictures and can exploit them. I am getting married at Escenia this year-- any words of advice? Any other vendors you used that you liked? Who did you use for flowers?

Del Sol was actually wonderful. I admit I am still not comfortable with my pictures showing up random places, but they are really good about it and the pictures were amazing and they are wonderful people. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

We used Denise from Eventos Euforia for our flowers and she was perfection. I adored her and she did the most fantastic job. It was funny, the flowers were the thing I cared about the least and they ended up being my favorite part - I loved everything she did and she had great ideas. I highly recommend her!!

Oh, also, it was pretty hot and humid. Like low 90's. A lot of the guests were not used to the humidity - lots of frizzy hair in the pics - but no one cared - they had the time of their lives.  I was a sweating mess by the end (but I was also a dancing fool, so that added to it). It was perfect during the ceremony. I had heard it gets very windy on the beach and whenever we had been there before we experienced that wind, but none this time. There was a nice breeze by the reception.

I can't think of anything you need to know except that they will do EVERYTHING for you at Esencia and they have impeccable taste. I didn't need to worry about anything at all. The DJ that they have is AMAZING, the food is just out-of-control good (everything. Literally everything). I will say though, that there is always tequila being passed around and I am positive that they water it down because if I ever, in the US, drank as much tequila as I drank down there, I'd be dead. My mother is the biggest lightweight on earth and she probably had six shots of tequila at the rehearsal dinner and she was fine. That is not normal. No one ever was sick-wasted, everyone was happy drunk, and people were doing five, six shots of tequila a night. I think it's some magic potion. Stick to beer and wine. I still have my doubts about the liquor. :)

Hello,

Here is an old thread but might help a bit.  Escencia is one of our favorite hotels to tie the knot!

Happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
