  1. Hi everyone!

I am a former BDW bride (Puerto Vallarta 2008). I am now a bridesmaid for a DW in August which will be held at Barcelo Maya Palace. All guests are staying next door at Barcelo Maya Tropical and I have been trolling around for sometime reading reviews.

I want to know if anyone can refer me to a Tour Operator where we can arrange a group tour (or tours). As Barcelo is only 9 miles or so from Xcaret, we are trying to price out the cost of buying a package from the hotel vs pre-purchasing tickets direclty on the website and arranging our own transportation (either by charter bus or taxi).

The bride and groom are expecting anywhere between 125-150ppl.

    Thanks in advance!

    Amy

  2. I know this is an old post, however Pris and Hector were my wedding coordinators for my 2008 wedding and they were nothing but professional, kind and went above and beyond anything I expected. Although I don't agree with her beliefs, I think they are amazing people and incredible wedding coordinators. I have nothing but positives to say about them. Mishka couldn't have expressed it better. She was not trying to be disrespectful or hateful.

I hope that your post does not deter PV brides from using their services.

  3. Edna! I've been thinking of you! Welcome back and congrats! You deserve a wonderful man and life ;) Can't wait to hear all about your wedding plans and what is a Mezcaleria?

  4. For those interested in the Mayan Palace in the marina, you can find links to my wedding pics, reviews in my siggy.  Also, here is a link to my wedding video http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/31791/our-video-by-luis-chavez-tags-puerto-vallarta-mayan-palace-our-lady-of-guadalupe

Make sure to use the search feature, you can find a ton of old threads on this same topic! (with pics!)

  5. We stayed at the GVV for our honeymoon and I loved it. It was very quiet, not a party resort but the service was amazing! I felt so spoiled there. The spa was a amazing too. Almost two years later and I still dream about it. The resort is very clean so I am not sure why someone would get sick or complain about the food. You have five-star meals. People tend to exaggerate and forget that when they go to an AI they tend to over-indulge in the all-you-can-eat food and alcohol.

I wrote a review which you can find in my sig. If the link doesn't work, pm me and I'll try to find the post.

We just did a plate of chicken nuggets for him, I know it was cheaper, but I can't remember how much cheaper.
This is what we did for our wedding. We had 175 guests attend our wedding (about 35 were kids under 12). We had a kids menu which was about 1/2 the cost of the regular menu.

I made activity kits for them so they would stay entertained during dinner. My WC suggested we contain the kids in the cocktail area where they could hang out, but most of the kids are rowdy and I opted for them to stay close to their parents where they could be supervised.

    Thank you so much!

Sorry ladies, she ordered them from a street vendor in Tonala Shopping in Tonal, Mexico I don't have any contact info for them.
  9. Something to keep in mind also is that the streets in the Malecon are quite small and buses do not fit. We rented a bus for the wedding party (one way back from the ceremony to the reception) and it had to pick us up a few blocks away from the the Cathedral. We couldn't remember the name of the street and got lost- and it began POURING! Luckily a jeweler let us in his shop while my new hubby and GM got drenched looking for the bus.

Anyhow, my point is that there are a ton of van cabs in PV and that is a great cheap option.

I am not sure, however I have seen it before in Spanish/Ethic stores, or stores in areas as such. There are a chain of stores in the san fernando valley here in CA called Vallarta Market and they do carry the mag there.
However, Rudy posted a link to purchase the mag online

Amy how many people were with you when you went to Mandala?
The first night, it was about 15, the second maybe about 30? I can't remember exactly. But the first night we had a better table, next to the dance floor, the second we were close to the back bar, but they don't open the window there and it was SO HOT! My suggestion, get a table towards the front of the club where the walls are open, or they have cute cabana type areas on the side.

Here are videos I found on Youtube YouTube - Mandala puerto vallarta YouTube - Mandala en puerto Vallarta Marzo 21 de 2008

WOW I really threw out a bunch a questions dizzy.gif I put in a question to the hotel but they're a bit slow to respond smile78.gif

    Thanks so much!

Sorry I missed this No one needed passes (including the photogs), they were just told where the wedding was. There is security, but they are there to keep uninvited guests out. We didn't have too many, because of the rain there weren't any random people walking around that day. However there was an elderly couple trying to crash, my mom asked who they were and they said they were the grandparents of the bride, haha! My mom told them they must be at the wrong wedding b/c her parents had passed!

    Anyhow, ask away!
