  1. So quite a few of our guests are not staying at the resort - including most of my family. I've heard that the resort charges guests anywhere from $55 - $100 for a pass that allows them to get into the resort, get drinks, food, etc. I'm just curious about this, because we are already paying per head for food and drink. Wouldn't this be paying twice, since our guests would be paying for something that we had already paid for in the cost of our wedding? We're having seventy-give guests included in the cost of our wedding; 25 are staying at a different resort and will have to pay a fee to even get into the resort. These guests also don't need day passes; it seems silly to pay $75.00 or whatever to have them show up for a 5PM wedding and enjoy what has already been bought and paid for. I can't wait for our wedding there, but this part seems really strange to me. Does anyone know if this is negotiable? Or how it works? Also, anyone have any description or pictures of Himitsu Beach? That's what I'm thinking site-wise, but I definitely want privacy. No gawking beach goers! I've thrown these requests past Claudia but for those of us that have her as a WC.....well, you know the response rate is less than stellar, LOL!

Is anyone else feeling this frustration? YES! I can't seem to get a hold of anyone there who can help me. We paid our deposit and now it seems like there's no one in the department. We've actually set a deadline....if I don't hear from Claudia by the end of January, we're pulling out and will probably have the wedding elsewhere. It isn't like Cancun is lacking in beautiful places to have a beach wedding!

I was told that they will not hold a block of rooms for you unless you pay for all of them.....and that's definitely not going to work! I have a few friends who got married in Mexico and used a travel agent - each said the TA didn't do much. I'm booking through Orbitz this week and telling friends/family to do the same in order to get a good deal.....the sooner they book, the better. Dreams will give you a discount code of 20% if you book ten or more rooms. You WILL have to pay for those ten in order to get the code. However, your other guests will then get a discount code to use when they make their reservation - but they have to go through the resort for reservations. Even with the 20%, going directly through the resort is still more expensive than booking through Orbitz or Expedia. So I still haven't heard from Claudia.....we put our deposit down three weeks ago, but the website states that you need the deposit AND the contract in order to hold a date. This is the item I have been waiting for. Everything else can wait until we arrive or shortly before. Is everyone here just going off of the deposit, or are you waiting until you have the contract before solidifying travel plans? Just curious because Orbitz is non-refundable.
  4. Thanks for the input everyone! The coordinator is Claudia. The reviews definitely speak for themselves, but that doesn't mean a girl isn't going to worry when she can't get a hold of anyone! In terms of our accommodations, I'm just going to go through Orbitz since they offer way better deals. I also hope our 100 guests can get rooms at the resort.....they wouldn't let me hold a block of 50 rooms unless I could pay for them all at once. Regarding switching things, I did request to change from the gazebo from the beach......I've been to the resort before and the wind at that location is no joke!! I originally requested the beach but they made a mistake on the initial contract. I can't really tell you if they will let me change that because I haven't heard from the coordinator. ~m
  5. Hi there - I'm planning a wedding at Dreams Cancun too, and was wondering if you've had any lucky establishing any type of regular communication with their wedding planner. We put our deposit down and now can't get a reply to save our lives. The resort is beautiful, just as the wedding will be beautiful - but even when I call other departments to confirm or research reservations, I'm told to go through her! Even when I say that I can't get a hold of her, I'm told that I HAVE to make all inquiries through her. I know it will be a great wedding, but just wanted to vent about this!
  6. We're planning a wedding at Dreams Cancun and I can't ever get a hold of the wedding planner to save my life. Every time I try to go through another staff member for confirmations or reservations, I'm directed to this person whom I can't seem to reach. The deposit has been made and I'm really looking forward to having our wedding at this beautiful resort.....but has anyone else had or been having this problem? It's driving me crazy.....when I called the 800 reservation line, even the Customer Service Rep told me that I'll "need the patience of Job" when dealing with that particular department at that particular resort! Seems so odd to me.....any ideas, suggestions or commiserations?? Thanks!
