I was thinking that the Riu could be the perfect compromise (for those of you that don't know, I cannot pick a location!), people who wanted something nicer could stay at the Riu Palace Mexico, my FI and I could stay there, and have the wedding there (I believe they have beach ceremonies and private receptions - right?), then people who wanted a more affordable option, could stay at the Riu Yucatan or Playacar right next door. Now, I understand that people from the palace can go anywhere, and from Yucatan and Playacar can't. So, I know that I would have to pay for a day pass for those folks to come to the wedding, but my question is, the Riu Palace also specifies that 80% of guests have to be staying at the hotel. Does that mean the Riu Palace, or could that be any Riu hotel? So, basically, 2 questions: 1. If for example, we had 50% of our guests at Riu Palace, and 50% at Riu Yucatan, would that be fine, (we would just have to pay for guest passes for the day for those at Riu Yucatan)? or is that not allowed because of the 80% rule? 2. Do you know for sure if they do private receptions in a terrace or some kind of outside space in the Riu Palace Mexico? Thank you ladies! Hello, I would like to know about these exchange privileges also. I understand that those staying at RIU Mexico can go to Yucatan, Tequila, etc. but can they not come to RIU Mexico and get drinks, and whatnot? On everything I have found, it says they only have exchange privileges with Tequila, Yucatan, and Playacar, but not this one. I thought it would be a great option if guests could stay at these less expensive ones, but not if they can't come over to our resort as they please. Any advice/info would be great. Thanks! Annie
  2. Hello, The Mayan Palace is really pretty! Is it all inclusive? Thanks
  3. That is so funny, because I have been changing my mind on resorts on a daily basis! I am looking at RIU palace pretty seriously also now. Looks really pretty, good beach, etc.
  4. That is very expensive for the projector! I guess I will not be having that either! If you find anything more out, let us know! Thanks a lot Annie
  5. Hi, I am very much considering RIU Palace Mexico as well. If you could send me pics, I would greatly appreciate it! My email is [email protected] Thanks alot!

I am interested in Aventura as well, although my sister might have a baby by then, so adults only would be out of the question! If plans change, and we are looking at that more closely, I will let you know!

My fiance and I were thinking of doing that, but we have different schedules, and probably won't be able to do it. I see you're getting married around the same time I am-exciting!
  8. Thanks so much everyone! I appreciate all of your help! I change my mind every day on resorts, so information will be helpful on everything! I am looking more closely at RIU Palace Mexico, but my travel agent said reservations are required at meals and whatnot. I'm wondering if anyone has information on whether there is a buffet and whatnot (my fiance, and the rest of the boys in our families will want good food, and so will the girls of course, but I don't think we'll be as concerned!). If those of you visiting can send me pictures, or if you have been there and can send pictures, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks again-you are all so kind and welcoming! Annie
  9. Hi, I am also seriously looking at RIU Palace Mexico for my wedding. Any information you or anyone else has would be great!
  10. Hello, I am getting married in June of 2008 in Riviera Maya Mexico. We are looking at Grand Palladium, RIU Palace Mexico, and some others. If anyone has pictures, advice, etc., I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much. Annie
