Is there anyone bringing their own photographer for your wedding?

We have a friend who we are thinking about asking to come but we are wondering what we should pay him? Obviously we would pay for his trip but how much extra would you recommend paying him? He has a girlfriend that we were going to invite as well. Do you give him money for her too? Do you bring them for the whole week or a shorter trip? He is a friend of the family so it is not like he wouldn't know anybody. We have to make a decision for this soon since our deposits are due right away.

Any insight would help!

It is hard to tell. Each photographer have their  own  price. I would recommend you to have a straight talk with him about his preferences. He might not even charge you. However, if you change you mind about it there many good photographers specialized in wedding around Riviera Maya. From what I heard prices start around 800 to 4000 dollars depends on what is included.

  • 3 weeks later...

Just wanted to give a "heads-up" on bringing a photographer into Mexico from home.......

It is illegal for someone to come to Mexico and photograph a wedding without proper working papers. The same way people can not just travel to the USA or Canada and work. Cancun airport is aware of this and as you will see... scans all luggage arriving when you go through customs. People traveling with more than one camera will need to answer for the equipment.

We're not trying to scare you... just give you the facts of working in a foreign country.

MTM has recently changed all the prices to accommodate couples who are working with a budget.

We're not saying you need to hire us, there are numerous professional photographers in our area who will deliver a wonderful photo record of your Big Day!

To see what your fellow wedding couples are saying, here's a link to Wedding Photographer Reviews

Wishing you all happy research, and all the best with your plans!!! team MTM:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
