Could any one who has had a wedding or is planning a wedding in Turks and Caicos comment on why they chose to hire an independent wedding planner in addition to or instead of using a resort planner? What additional things can an independent wedding planner do/get (e.g. discounted hotel rates, photography, reception catering, etc.) that a resort planner would not be able to? Has any one tried or succeeded in planning a wedding on their own? Do you wish you had hired a wedding planner? Thanks!

Hi Everyone- I'm recently engaged and would love to have my wedding in TCI but don't know where to begin to see if it is realistic for me to have one there. I have found this forum immensely helpful but am wondering for those brides who had their weddings there or those who are in the middle planning, could you answer the following? What was your budget? How many people invited, how many actually attended? Where did you have your ceremony and reception? Did you hire a wedding planner and was it worth it? Did all your guests stay in the same hotel/resort? I would like to have the ceremony on the beach then have a more laid back (not so formal) reception with around 50 guests. If we go this route, we would plan another party back home for all of our friends/family. Thanks for all your input!
