We don't have a good relationship with my fiances mother. When we first decided to have a cruise wedding she acted like it was the best idea ever. Then as we got more and more into the plans she has came up with every excuse in the book to why they wouldn't be able to attend the cruise (only the ceremony before the cruise leaves). First the cost, then we offered to pay. Next was who would watch the dogs. Then how they would have to be around people they don't know. And how they would feel obligated to entertain family. And finally how that isn't something they would ever choose to do for themselves. She wants us to have something local so everyone will be able to come, yet from day 1 we have expressed how we cannot afford to do it local because they have too much family that would come but wouldn't come to something out of state. We have mailed out invitations and she has yet to call or acknowledge that she has received one (which we know she has). I want her to be involved but since she did not get her way I feel like she wants nothing to do with us. Also I believe she is trying to influence other members of the family not to attend. How to end this madness?! The cruise and wedding is booked, we aren't changing our minds. Will she ever change hers? Any suggestions to make peace!? Thanks
