  1. Oh, and I was told you have to have at least 50 people to have a private reception. They charge you to close down the restaurant for the night, so that you have it for both seatings. Supposedly they don't charge you for the food or alcohol, which is why I don't understand why the price keeps changing... I think there are three options for a private reception: the steakhouse, having an outside buffet type thing set up, and a third that I can't remember. We are hoping to book the stake house. I believe someone said the regular menu is the menu available for your reception. I'm such a planner that not having details hammered down is driving me nuts. :-/
  2. Patricia is our wedding coordinator as well. I have 2012 prices that I can email to you, but no 2013 prices. They told me to add 10% to the 2012 prices and that would be roughly the cost, but I don't believe anything until I see it in writing. If you get prices I would really appreciate it you shared! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g150812-d219633-Reviews-Riu_Palace_Mexico-Playa_del_Carmen_Yucatan_Peninsula.html That is the link to the RIU palace mexico page on trip advisor. Click traveler photos on the left of the screen. A picture of the new room should be in the first 20 pictures. Its a mostly white room. purple bed spread on the end of the bed. We booked a beach ceremony at 5pm, but I'm a little nervous about tripping over my dress while walking through the sand. Have you given that any thought? Maybe an isle runner would help.
  3. Mel, Have you been given any more information yet? I got some prices from our wedding planner, but they are 2012 prices. Are you having a private reception? I keep getting different price quotes, per person, for a private reception and its making it really hard to budget! Have you seen the renovated rooms? If you go to tripadvisor.com, to the RIU place Mexico page and search "renovated rooms" there are three pictures from other guests. They are very modern and sleek looking.
  4. I'm getting married at the RIU palace mexico on 8/8/13 and I'm having a hard time finding information also. As it gets closer to my wedding, and I start getting information, I'll post it here.
  5. Did you end up doing this? I'm looking for an outside florist for my wedding too.
  6. Is anyone else (or has anyone recently) getting married at the RIU Palace Mexico? We booked our date - 8.8.13!! But I haven't been able to get much information out of the hotel yet. We already have 67 people confirmed (with deposits) so far. We are expecting somewhere between 75-100. I'm trying to figure out pricing for a private reception and if we are allowed to have a DJ at the restaurant/reception site itself. I understand there is a dance club that you can use for the DJ, but we don't want to do that. We want to have as close to a "normal" reception as possible with dancing and toasts throughout the evening. Does anyone know if this is allowed? Does anyone know how much a private reception is? Does anyone know how much the DJ is? Does anyone know how much a photographer is? My understanding is that the hotel photographer will only do the ceremony but not the reception. Thanks in advance for any information you have! P.S. - I'm also looking for pictures from private receptions and the beach ceremony site, so if you are willing to share I would be very grateful! Liz
