  1. Maybe this is a well-known idea, but I'm new to this so I don't know. We are planning to have a small DW on Oahu, Hawaii with our immediate families. Mine will be coming from Minnesota, so we've determined that it will be MUCH cheaper to seek out a vacation rental property than board all 8 of us in a hotel for a week or so. With that being said, we're trying to be budget-minded. So I thought I had a revelation of an idea last night... Considering we would rent a beachfront/ oceanfront property with a view... Can we just have the wedding ceremony (maybe the reception) on the rental property?? Obviously if we choose to do it on the actual beach, we have to have a permit. But there are several beautiful places with lush lawns and the beach/ocean as a backdrop. Our ceremony will consist of approx 21 people including ourselves, so quite small. Is there any reason I would NOT be able to have my ceremony on the property we're renting? Any legal fine print in Hawaii? Other people have their ceremonies at home, and really this is our "home" for a week. I assume an officiant would come to whatever wedding site we choose. As for the reception portion of it, we would probably just plug in my iPod dock and ipod, and have a nice dinner catered to the yard or lanai of the house. For the ceremony we could rent chairs... I'll probably do my own simple silk flowers/bouquets. Get hair/makeup done somewhere local in the morning. Anyways... Input?? Has anyone done this? Any vacation rental owners out there have something to say? Anybody? Bueller? Thanks!
