  1. Hi bruuning fantastic news on your dress my three year old badgers me evryday to go dress shoppin. Im not sure if sooner rather than later will work in her case though ha! Hi Kim, Ive been told by co-optravel that the dates should be in the new brochures due out in september/october so fingers crossed. I have been trying to compare the prices from this years as a rought estimate. I will be booking with Thomson through co-op as TA was much nicer and discounted our comparison figures from £5000 to £3800 for 2 adults and 2 children without even asking. However i will be offering the carribean warhouse on my invites as this is so much cheaper. It was even suggested to me to get a quote and see if co-op can beat it. Worth a try. Because its expensive im not expecting many but at least im offering alternatives and carribean warehouse was on average 250 cheaper. I thought want the security of the 'big' tour operator although people on trip advisor say carribean warehouse or blue bay their sister company is fine unless you have a volcano situation.
  2. Hi Kim, Its nice to hear from you. It seems you have been really busy with your announcments and scrapbook etc. Im mostly computer based right now and just waiting for flight availablity so i can book and send invites out. sorry i meant we hee hee! Although im not aticipating a large number even with the notice given Ive also decided on DLR. What month are you planning? Its great that you have been there before you must have lots of inside information. carla
  3. Hi June great to finally be talking about it with people of the same year hee hee! Have you decided on your venue/hotel? where in the world are you from? O and im Carla march 2013 wahoooooo! and as you can see i talk/type alot Congratulations ladies
  4. Bruuing17. I guess we've all been lurking ha! Have you made and destination decisions yet? Trivera i think it is a harder choice when you have others to consider. I was initially torn with my dream but also making it affordable for everyone else. I am from Liverpool, England and my family are used to short-haul European holidays which are really cheap by comparison. I'm disappointed that some wont be able to attend especially those with children whoexpected to pay full price. So Ive decided to book with those that are happy and if others wish to do so they can also hop on board with our tour operator or I will be giving them the details of the carribeanwarehouse.com which is often recommended on Trip advisor. They offer it almost £400 cheaper than my travel agent. I completely sympathise with your dilemma. Sounds great that you can go beforehand and check them out though. I have looked into the Jelly fish restaurant I was initially torn between dreams punta cana because i wanted to accommodate those travelling with us and thought this resort looked more lively but the aspect of the Caribbean side of Dreams la romana again tugs at my heart. So Jellyfish is a no go for us. With regards to choosing I felt that for me once i blocked out everything apart from my own vision no price or person could not get in the way. I'm sure the reviews you've read are dependant on the person and you can mostly read between them to get the feedback you really need. I would recommend carribeanwarehouse or bluebay (its sister company) for a price check and your TA who may price match. Good luck
  5. Hi trivera5521 Yes ive decided on dreams la romana. Ive weighed up all of the resorts but something keeps pulling me back to DLR and since my FI allowed me the choice of anywhere in the world it seems its fate. We wont be going before as i dont want to take anything away from the suprises i will see on my first trip this is half the fun for me. How about you have you decided on a resort? And been able to book yet? Where are you in the world?
  6. Hello there wahoo! at last another 2013. Ive felt a little prompt since deciding on our dream wedding. Ive read and re-read all the post and all that is left is for my TA to release the date so i can book. Originally it was only ever a dream for a quiet wedding with me, fiance and our two children then some friends said they would love to join us. So here i am thanks for making me feel less alone Carla x
  7. Hi Katie, This has been of great help. The two tour operators in the UK differ in whom is allowed in the rooms so its nice to hear that at least if we book the ocean view room we can upgrade once there if it does not suit us. The information on the extras is great and my FI said id previously mentioned lobster somewhere but i couldnt recall where id read it. He is a little extravegant so even thought numbers may not hit the 20's he still wants lots of goodies and extras like fireworks etc. So he will be happy about this food option. The brochures in the UK say you are entightled to the free wedding if you book an ocean view room or higher for at least 7 nights so im hoping that this is the case rather than room numbers you suggested. Although friends and family are expected i think many will choose to book later hoping for a better deall. So i will be booking with around 10 people on the premis of the free wedding option ive just discussed. Hope im right. Im happy that the children can be accomodated and youve given us lots of other options to discuss. Thank you so much Carla
  8. Hi ladies will be travelling from the UK and with TC although booking through co-optravel agents as cheaper. Since we will be gettin married i want the security of a big tour operator but prices are a little steep for some people. Im left feeling really bad. Any alternative booking agents in UK or advice would be appreciated. At least then i can pass on the details feeling a little less selfish.
  9. Hi ladies, I'm so happy for all past and upcoming brides who have chosen their destination wedding at dreams la romana. We have also decided to take the plunge but cannot book are desired dates until September when the new brochures are out for 2013 a long time off i know but gives us lots of time to plan. I wonder if anybody can answer some initial questions regarding rooms. Already parents to 2 children who will be 7 and 5 when we travel i have some concerns over sleeping arrangements of course this will be a family holiday/wedding i want my children with us (although some privacy may be needed on occasion ha!) are children allowed in the partial sea view rooms/preferred?? Another query is if we are allocated a king size bed where do the children sleep? do they have room in the lounge area for pullouts? I was thinking of booking the partial sea view room/preferred to qualify for the complimentary wedding due to numbers really and adding our specifics for cocktail hour and reception. Does anyone have any prices or ideas on if this works out better. As my FI is extravagant and want to have the best meal entertainment etc i thought this was an easier option due to our small numbers. Any advice would be greatfully appreciative. We are hoping to travel with family (although some are already say they cannot afford it ) we have decided to book our dream wedding and know that some close friends will be coming too so probably around 8 adults. I'm sorry if this sounds a little prompt especially for all upcoming brides but i like to be organised initially as i will be a stress head otherwise lol! Thanks in advance
