  1. Megan, For the centerpieces I am bringing my own table lanterns (with votives) which I bought on a wholesale website (http://www.superwholesaler.com/merchandise/?q=lanterns&ad=10&gclid=CMrE7KPTuawCFQZThwodsDEPpg ). I got 12 lanterns for $6 each. I have some mason jars (cheap on kmart.com) that i'm bringing just in case. I also made my own table numbers which I have attached a couple pictures of (The 2nd finished picture makes it look pink/yellow, but they are actually purple and ivory). I bought everything at Michael's for those. I decided to leave the centerpieces at that, as there is plenty of scenery and I felt that the resort cost for centerpieces was crazy! For the rest of decor I am using the recommended floral vendor through dreams (Florenta i believe) - I am getting a few bags of rose petals and 4 kissing balls for the ceremony. (And of course the bridesmaid bouquets). I am paying the resort to set up the lighting- the hanging lanterns/string lights. I decided to keep the decor pretty simple, mostly out of frutration with the price. Have you made any progress on your planning yet? I know the beginning is super crazy!
  2. I'm getting married in 2 months! January 14th, 2012! Any other January brides? We have about 65-70 guests coming to our wedding. We decided to get married at the gazebo and have our reception on the cascade terrace. I have finished most of the big details, but still need to work out some things regarding escort cards, music and the food. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has had the buffet at their wedding before. We were thinking of doing the BBQ buffet so if anyone has a review on that I'd love some feedback. Also has anyone used the The Mexican Trio (Los Mosquitos) before? One set came with our package and I plan on using them for our ceremony and possibly extending them for the cocktail hour. Lastly, if anyone has advice on the BEST excursions I'd love to hear about it. I was considering doing a kayak/snorkel tour, or whale watching. Advice For Future Brides: I have had a lot of issues with the coordinator (Magda). She is really very sweet, and when she does respond she is very helpful, but her responses are very limited and far and few between. I know she is super busy (I believe she does a wedding every day), so I have tried to give her some time, but now that I am only 2 months away from the big day it's been quite frustrating. Any new brides, just be prepared for the slow communication. I have learned to not stress over it, but I have also read that once you are in Cabo, she is super helpful. Just prepared to figure out some things on your own! I chose to use a travel agent and get the group rate through the resort. About half of my guests chose to use the travel agent (which they were very happy with) and the other half booked through the resort. I believe using an agent will save you a lot of stress and money. Most of the people who booked through Dreams did so because they have mileage for their flights. If I could go back and just pick one way for guest booking I would def. say the travel agent is the way to go as it takes a lot of work off your hands! The only other thing I can say added stress to me so far is a lot of the DIY projects I took on. But I like saving money and creating my own stuff, so it's my own fault! Good luck to the girls who are just beginning the process.... I know it can be confusing and stressful! I'll post my review in a few months when i get back!
  3. Hi All, I am the January 2012 bride... trying to get things together. I finally got a dress! So I am trying to figure out a good reception. We are planning on 50-75 guests and my future MIL thought a bonfire would be a lot of fun ( i agree) but I havent seen anyone else talk about this. Has anyone here done a bonfire through dreams and would you reccommend it? Also did anyone else bring their own decorations?
  4. @cherazi congratulations! Everything looked gorgeous! Love the purple! we are going to have that color in our wedding too!
  5. Hi all! Thanks for the earlier congrats! I had a few stressful weeks trying to figure it out, but I am officially booked for January 14th at Dreams Los Cabos! Now for the fun stuff! I believe we are going to get married at the gazebo and have the reception on the cascade terrace! I have heard good things about both options so hopefully it turns out nice! Did anyone have the symbolic ceremony? My fiance and I are debating this right now, and are thinking of doing a cour wedding on December 10th (our 6 year anniversary) and just having the symbolic ceremony in Mexico. Do any past brides have any good or bad advice on this? Thanks again and I can't wait to share my planning with everyone!
  6. Thanks knbell22 ! I actually FINALLY heard back today, and I understand they are busy and they explained the servers were down. Either way, I simply just wanted to know if the dates were available so i could either move on or book it. So far I feel like picking the date is the most stressful part! Good luck with your wedding, I hope the last month goes smoothly... I am excited and I still have 7 months!
  7. I am currently trying to plan my wedding at Dreams Los Cabos resort, and I have read on here that it may take "a few days" to hear back from the wedding coordinator, but it's been almost TWO weeks, and I have heard nothing. My fiance and I are trying to plan for a January 2012 wedding, which is not that far away, so this waiting around is really stressing me out. Does anyone have any tips on getting ahold of a coordinator there? My family and I are pretty much in agreement with the resort, but we can't even get ahold of them to put a deposit in. Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!
