  1. I recommend the saxophonist - he's a brilliant and very talented musician. Our w/c asked what type of music we wanted, and we said something with a Latin/Mexican flavour, and he played lots of great tunes.
  2. Our daughter was married in a non-legal ceremony at the Barcelo on April 30th (she and her husband were married in a civil ceremony before they arrived in Mexico -- none of the guests knew that they had been married in Canada). They chose a "justice of the peace" for the wedding, and the ceremony was lovely. No one knew the difference. The bride and groom signed a "certificate" in front of everyone and the guests just assumed it was the marriage certificate.
  3. Our daughter got married at the Barcelo on Saturday, April 30th. As previous brides have stated, everything was perfect! Our wedding coordinator (Gabriela) met us the day after we arrived, showed us the locations for the wedding, the cocktails, and the reception and then spent about 45 minutes with us going over details. My daughter and her bridesmaids had pre-booked Adrian and his crew to do their hair/make-up and that was worth every penny. The wedding was on the beach at 3:00 p.m., followed by cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on the roof-top, and dinner at 6:00 p.m. in the Tule 3 banquet room The only minor complaint was the beef tenderloin (served at dinner) was over-done and tough. The rest of the meal was superb! The staff at the hotel went out of their way to make everything perfect. Gabriela was around for every part of the day (she picked up the bridal party and brought to them to the beach in a golf cart); she liaised with the musician, the officiant, the person working the iPod music, escorted the guests to the rooftop reception and the dinner, made sure the banquet room was set up the way we wanted it, introduced us to the wait staff, showed us how to use the sound system for our music, etc., etc. The flowers picked by the bride were beautiful, and we ordered flowers for the bridemaid's hair (all of which were delivered to the room in lots of time for the hairdresser). The bride was totally relaxed about all the details (that's why mom is posting this because I made all the arrangements) and we can't say enough about a destination wedding being the perfect way to celebrate a relaxing day! All the guests had a great time. If you have any questions you can email me at [email protected]

  5. Anybody have recommendations for a restaurant at the resort to hold the wedding dinner? My daughter is getting married at the Barcelo in April 2011 and we're a small group (about 20). We're interested in ambience/atmosphere. Would appreciate any feedback.
  6. Hi - I'm the "mother of the bride" who's the lucky one doing all the arrangements. Our daughter is getting married at the Barcelo at the end of April 2011. It's going to be a small crowd and she's decided to have dinner at one of the restaurants. The group will be about 20. Any comments on the restaurants (good, bad or indifferent)? We're not as concerned about the food as we are about the ambience/setting. Any help would be appreciated.
