  2. i mean REALLY clean. 4+ stars on Trip Advisor and Expedia, not just want the tour operators (i.e., Air Canada) call it. And $1500-1700 canadian per person from Toronto. Cost of the ceremony I can handle, I'm just worried about my guests. Thanks
  3. Hi All. Were trying to pick our resort. Wondering why you chose Paradisus Riviera? Look nice. Does it allow kids? Thanks
  4. what made you pick Dreams Puerto Aventuras? were still trying to pick our location we thought we settled on barcelo tropical, but now i am having second thoughts any suggestions help pictures, posts on trip advisor, 3.5 star rating, and 2006 story turned me off barcelo we like a good/big/interesting pool with bar, clean, great beach, good food, i like grand, my fiance does not like big buildings and concrete, he likes trees thanks
  5. Hi All, We've been in circles trying to find a resort. We thought we settled on Barcelo Tropical, but now I am having second thoughts. I wasn't keen on Dreams, Palladium or RUI, and those were the top recommended. I also am not sold on Iberostar. So I don't know where to go. I like Riviera Maya (particularly between Playa Del Carmen and Tulum) for all it has to offer our guests in terms of day trips and scuba/snorkling ... I just don't know if I can not find a clean, 4+ star (according to trip advisor), at around $1500, with a nice big interesting pool with bar. We've been to two destination weddings at Majestic Colonial Punta Cana and the Grand Occidental Cozumel ... we wanted to try some place different, but we don't want to take our guests a step down, I don't want them to be slumming it for a wk (this is my worry with Barcelo, maybe I am being too harsh, i'm just scared) ... Maybe clean is more important than big interesting pool, which is the main thing we were looking at to start ... I just wish there was a Majestic Colonial equivalent in the area :o/ Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.
  6. I was also planning a wedding there in Nov, but now I am having second thoughts about the resort ?!? ... It doesn't have the best rating on Trip Advisor, my travel agent said there are better places to get married ... :o/ ... She said Dreams and Palladium, but we weren't keen on their layout, we wanted a big pool. Other people say RUI, but we also didn't like their big buildings. For Barcelo Tropical I read reviews of hard bed, poor food, low quality alcohol, smells and mold ... not to mention the 2006 Barcelo Beach story, which you may not want to look up :o/ One tip, if you have not been in touch with them, CALL THEM to book your wedding day 011 52 984 875 15 00 (try to get to the front desk, then ask for the wedding coordinators, we got bumped around about 4 times til we got there) ... I was told you had to request your wedding date and time by email, but when I tried I never heard back, so I had to call. I heard that they are not great when you try to email them, but when you get there everything goes like clockwork and the flowers, spa, tables, chairs etc are very nice. (you will need to know what wedding package you want when you call/email to book your date and time - I got the document with the options from Erika at sac5.op6@barcelo.com) Let us know if you book there. If anyone has other suggestions/recommendations, please let me know )
