  1. Hi everyone, I know this sounds crazy...but my sister just did a beach wedding and I don't want to repeat that, and my fiancee and I both love Mexico so much, especially the culture. We have been there many times and have visited almost all of the Mayan ruins around the peninsula inc. Chichen-Itza, Coba, Uxmal, Palenque (in Chiapas). I know you can get married in a national park in the US, but can you get married at one of the Mayan ruins sites? It is really hard getting info on this, and of course, we would not want to harm the environment of the zone in any way while we had the ceremony. But the more I think about this, the more it seems right up our alley! Any leads?
  2. Hi, I've been to the Riviera Maya for several years in a row, and just last April my sister got married at Ana y Jose in Tulum. It was fabulous! They were so helpful and accomodating, and things went so smoothly! She had a pretty decent wedding turnout, too, about 90 people. Although not everyone could stay right there at the hotel, she did get to have close family and friends right there at the hotel, and there is a new hotel right next door called Zulum. And my sister had a list of a lot of different places to stay within a couple of (beach) blocks. The reason why I love this place is for it uniqueness and its solitude. You won't have a million people on the beach gawking at your wedding vows and you pretty much have the beach all to yourselves. It is also very beautiful, and seems to fit right in nature (although the accomodations are very nice, and not rustic at all). It has a very Shangri-La feel with a much better beach (we were in Playa in December and the beach has eroded a lot around there) and far less people. Only drawback I guess is that Tulum town is not as hip as downtown Playa, but guests were having so much fun with each other that it didn't matter. Good luck! Theresa
  3. Hello, My name's Theresa and my boyfriend and I got engaged a few weeks ago. We want a destination wedding for sure, but are having a really hard time narrowing it down because we love so many places! The date is TBA depending on the location. We would love to share a great experience with our close friends and family while still keeping it relatively affordable for everyone. Top choices so far: Ireland, Yellowstone or Yosemite National Parks, Southwest USA, parts of Mexico, esp. Tulum (even though we are leaning against that because my sister just got married there a couple of months ago at the very place which would have been my top choice!). Any suggestions? I'm so happy to find a group of people I can talk to about this! Theresa
