I also really want a canopy, but we can't justify the money being spent for such a short period of time. Every time I see a picture of one, I want to get one. worried2.gif But, with that set-up, we'll also have 2 large flower arrangements. I"m not sure if we'll put them in the front or the back, but I think front.. maybe next to the table would be best.

I think we'll be more with two. We'll have royal blue chair ties, and I don't think we'll use an aisle runner. Maura, what are your colors? Ours are royal blue, light blue, and coral, but I would also be interested in going in on rose petals, and I'm open to different colors, as long as they're not way off the color scheme.smile159.gif We really like the idea of rose petals, but of course, Westin quoted us an outrageous price, so that idea had been put to the side.
our colors are navy/royal blue, white and champagne. we will do all white linens for everything - the ceremony chair covers & ties, and the table linens and chair linens for dinner. jose sort of wants to wear a light orangish tie to go with my peach colored calla bouquet, so i was thinking about ordering an orangy looking color and yellow... but am open to other ideas to do a mix. i will post the link and email you the seller info so you can look at the colors available when i get home.

Does this mean you decided on a beach location for your ceremony? I think with the aisle runner, it will be no problem at all.
yeah we finally settled on doing it on the beach. jose didnt like the bugambilias terrace for the ceremony and i vetoed the pool deck.

Also, Barrie and Maura, do you have plans for after the reception? I know quiet time is at 10pm, so we were deciding on just heading back to our condo for an after party or going into town.
we havent even thought about this, but i wonder how much they really make you stick to the 10 pm quiet time thing... we should ask doc2be when she gets back. the weddings ive been to in mexico did not stop until like 7 am the next morning, but i dont want mine to be like that. i know ill be exhausted by midnight and ready for bed. im hoping we can somehow avoid hanging out with people past the time the reception shuts down and just go to our room to sleep. cuz i know im gonna be too tired to do anything else!

I guess my set up is like #3 but I am not using the flowers. I am getting 2 bags of rose petals through the Westin, either both orange or one orane, and one yellow, depending on what I can get. Are you thinking of ordering silk rose petals or real ones? I have heard so many stories of people trying to bring live flowers into Mexico and they were immediately taken away. I thought of the silk petal idea but being that it is right in front of the ocean, I did not want to risk any blowing into the water or getting mixed into the sand (I'm thinking environmentally!). I know the prices can be expensive but sometimes it may be worth it just for the guarantee and lack of headache. smile159.gif

After the reception (actually dinner for us), we are going to go over to one of the bars in the hotel that Lorena told me was open until 1 AM and could accomodate us.

Lorena told us about this bar too, but I think we'll go back to our condo. We wanted to rent one of the junior suites, but too much out of the budget.

Anyway... I had a question to you all about open bar? Are you all using the full domestic, or are you doing a specialty drink, or how are you working this? When I received the 2007 banquet menu they had this basic bar, and it was so affordable, and they took it out for 2008. I told Lorena, this is what we wanted because we really just need the basics, nothing fancy, and she told us the domestic or high end bar are our only choices. I'd be happy with just beer, wine, margaritas and soft drinks.

Hello Maura,

Congratulations on your wedding!!!!

I just read who your photographer is and you are in for a great time with Bradley. You'll have lots of fun and awesome pictures!

And your videographer Enrique Diaz is if not the best, one of the best I've ever seen!

I wish you a beautiful ceremony :)

This was a tough one. We actually sat down and calculated the max number each person would drink and decided it would be cheaper to do by consumption. What you can do is remove the premium selections (or other things you don't want) from the bar menu so they are not an option for people to choose. We have a few things we are going to take off so that will cut down the cost significantly.

i'm going to order silk. you absolutely cannot bring real flower petals in or out of mexico, its an agricultural law through the government. i personally am not worried about them blowing into the water or getting mixed in the sand... the westin has tried to screw all of us in various ways and i am not paying them their outrageous fee for flower petals for the aisle. i will probably order an orange color of some kind and a yellow color. what did they quote you on price for 2 bags, and how many petals does that include?

as for bar, i dont know what we are doing, because im not paying for it. my FMIL is deciding on that one. but i dont think we are going to give the westin a decision in stone on how we want to do it until we have all our RSVPs back at the end of june.

Hi girls,

I was just wondering how everything was going for you all? Maura, has the Westin cooperated yet with you?

Our wedding day is one month today! I have received our final BEOs for the ceremony and the reception. That was interesting. Look very carefully at these when you get them because it took 2 days to get them straight. There were several mistakes including the wrong reception time, the wrong salad, and only one sound system listed. I also noticed on our consumption resume, she was charging me 8.00/slice of cake. anyway, this has all been taken care of and I'm going to make the payment today.

I noted it on Barrie's other post about musician fees, but I'll say it here again, it said on our BEO that the Westin SHOULD provide all vendor related services, but there's nothing saying they must. She must've known about our photographer, and I told her we had contracted a florist on our own, and she said the hotel would accept it, but they have to really. If you all would like a copy of these, let me know, and I'll email them to you.

I'm just so interested to see how it all pans out! I'm glad I now have everything on paper and in emails. I'm glad Lorena corresponded with me entirely over emails, and I'm so happy she negotiated the bar package with me!

I'm also just so happy to have found this forum because I definitely think we have saved so much money and possible headaches because of this forum!

I am glad things are going well for you!! Things are moving along here. I still have an undecided guest and one who broke up with her boyfriend and doesn't know if she can afford to come now. I can always add them on so I guess I'll keep them out of my count for now.

Less than 8 weeks to go! What did you mean when you said only one sound system listed? AR eyou getting 2 for the $200? I was wondering how the system was going to get from my ceremony on the beach to the patio of La Playa for dinner...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
