Hindu Wedding in Cancun (JW Marriott)

Recommended Posts

My company, Elite Events Management, recently completed a Hindu wedding in Cancun at the JW Marriott. I used this site to find many of the vendors we reached out (went with Zuniga for decor/floral and M&J Photography for photographer).

I wanted to share some images from the events and be a resource to others who choose to have a Hindu wedding down in Cancun as finding information was not always easy.

Our events:

Friday, February 22, 2013 - Mehndi/Sangeet

This was held outside at the JW Marriott's Seaside Garden. Since it was from 7pm to 11pm, we were worried about having sufficient lighting. To solve this, we employed Zuniga to string the entire garden with paper lanters, which provided enough lighting without being too bright and taking away from the natural beauty. The lanterns looked like stars in the sky, and were the perfect amount of lighting. JW Marriott provided a Mexican themed menu, and our mehndi artist from San Francisco completed henna tattoos on over 80 of the 150 guests in 4 hours.

Saturday, February 23, 2013 - Baraat/Ceremony

The groom's procession took place on the beach, with 75 guests dancing along with the groom and his friends and family as they met the bride's side. The ceremony took place at the Gazebo at the JW Marriott/Casa Magna. With the amazing backdrop of the blue ocean and sky, the goal was to keep the gazebo simple and not take away from the natural beauty again. The gazebo was tastefully wrapped in a fuschia cloth, and a gorgeous string of flowers were wrapped along the top. The aisle contained small bouqets tied to the chairs to add some color. The wedding programs containing all the information for the hindu ceremony also doubled as fans to stay cool in the heat.

The reception took place in the Tulum Ballroom of the JW Marriott. 155 guests celebrated with the bride & groom. Zuniga provided the beautiful draping around the room, as well as the dramatic candles on the head table to add a touch of elegance to the room.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
