WC is MIA!

So when I booked the Somerset back in Novemeber of last year I had told the wedding coordinator that I would have wanted either a saxophonist or a violist for my wedding. I wasn't sure which because first I needed to pick the tunes for my ceremony and the cocktail hour. Last month I sent her an e-mail requesting to find out whether there was a saxophonist or a violinist on the island. I got no replies. I posted the question on here and Krys Mann from TI was able to give me the name and contact info for the saxophonist (there is no violinist on the island). I then sent my WC a message asking that she please get in touch with him and 1) please find out whether he could play a list of songs I sent her (which would determine whether I use him for the ceremony or cocktail hour), 2) please book him (cause he either way he was going to be doing one).

I haven't heard back from WC only to tell me there is a saxophonist on the island (I already knew that Krys told me). I decided to try to get in touch with the saxophonist myself. I finally got a hold of him today to find out that he just recently accepted another booking for Nov. 13th and therefore won't be able to do my wedding!

Dream #1.........SHATTERED! Ok well maybe not that dramatic, but I am starting to get miffed by the fact that I have 109 days left to go and I am hearing from your WC less and less! I wrote her to tell her we will be having a wedding cake and that we would like passed drinks during cocktail hour......no response. It seems that as my date gets closer I am hearing from her less and less. Quite frankly I don't know what to do. In the beginning I would hear back from her within a few days....a week tops...now I get no response or if I do, it doesn't answer my question.

*sigh* thanks for letting me vent ladies!

Janine, don't panic yet.  I am still off island, but contact Ileana and ask her for Janardo Laporte's contact details (he is Jervon's brother and has just released a sax cd and is also available to play weddings).  Ileana will have his contact details because she just did a shoot for his new cd cover.

I can't comment on the Sommerset as I don't know what is happening.  Ileana may have some insight since she is on island.  July/August is slow season and the WC could be on vacation or covering for others on vacation.  We also have been known to have serious issues from time to time with email service on island.  I highly recommend sending emails again (and again) if you haven't heard back and put something like second request, or had no response, please confirm receipt.   I don't know if you are going with a cake from the sommerset, but if you need cake people, I know a few!

Deep Breaths...and let me know if there is anything else we can do to help.

I LOVE YOU KRYS!!!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!! Jervon did send me his brother's contact info. I didn't know he played the sax as well...I thought it was a flute or something. Monique actually took vacation last week cause I had to do everything through Suzie to book our rooms.  Oh well, I will try sending another email. I am also gonna jump on sending my deposit to David (Atabeyra) since I don't want to lose that. My cake is being done through the resort. Do you know any other flower options other than EA? I asked for a mock up through Monique back in May from them and have never received anything.

Thanks again for coming to the rescue!

Hi Janine,

Flower wise, there is another florist on island (The Flower Girl).   I find she tends to offer very basic (bougenvillia/roses and carnations) and has been known to substitute or be very last minute and late.  Personally I wouldn't recommend her over Environmental Arts.

EA does do our home landscaping so I have contacted our person and asked her for a personal email/contact details of who does bridal work etc.  Once I get that, I'll pass it along.  Louise who I believe is heading up the floral division is a real artist and they have done some lovely stuff for weddings and I've gotten some gorgeous arrangements as well from them.

I'll follow up when I hear back from EA.   Atabeyra is a great choice...LOVE that boat. Let me know if there is anyone else you need to get in contact with.

Krys you rock so much! I finally heard from Monique today. She did book Jervon so when he said he was booked it was for my wedding he just didn't know it was for my wedding. I shot an e-mail to David so that I could put a deposit for the boat and well I am going to stick with EA since that other florists sounds sketchy.

I have Louise's contact but she always passes me over to Aimee and she always confuses what I am saying. I will try again to see if I can deal with Louise directly. All I really want is a small mock up of what my flowers will maybe look like. Bit by bit its getting sorted out and thank you for all of your help with it all Krys.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
