Actually booking the date

Recommended Posts

I would like to check with those of you who are more experienced with this so I wanted to know if I have started the process correctly of booking the date we would like in 2011.

We have decided on the Iberostar Bavaro and I emailed the Wedding Coordinator to ask what happens next and we have been put on the waiting list for January 2011. We were told the date wouldn't be confirmed until next March when the judge confirms his availablity.

Was everyone else in the same boat?

I am a little concerned because she also told us January is really busy.

I booked my wedding last september, 2008, for July 2010 (almost 2 years early) and I had no problem getting booked that soon. My wedding is in mayan riviera, so maybe that makes a difference. I also have a TA that specializes in doing weddings. They are called The Wedding Holiday, and they got me booked right away. Maybe contact them and see if they can get you booked right away. Their website is www.theweddingholiday.com They have been fantastic to deal with so far and extremely helpful with wedding planning.

you will find that if you are having a legal wedding in the DR you'll have to wait until about 10 or 11 months out to get your date confirmed since the judges that make the wedding legal only book that far in advance.

if you decide to have a symbolic ceremony and get legally married at home first you'll probably avoid this scheduling hassle plus you'll avoid having to pay translation and judge fees. this is, of course, a personal decision, but a lot of girls do take this path because it can simplify things and potentially get you a date booked sooner.

good luck and let us know what you decide!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
