Engaged In Cozumel

Recommended Posts

Our engagement day was wonderful, but here's a little background info. To make a long story short, I was married for 13 years, 2 children, bad marriage. He was an abusive cheater, and I had no self esteem. I've been divorced 6 years now and after much prayer, and the help of friends and family, regained my self esteem, and have made a good life for me and my boys. My oldest graduated from high school last week, and the youngest is now a Senior. I'm 36 and Ty is 33, and thank the Lord for sending me a man who is kind, loves me so much, and likes and gets along well with my kids. Ty and I have known each other for years, and he is a very close friend of my brother in law. I had dated a guy for 1 1/2 yrs. and he decided one day he couldn't help raise my boys. Ty and I started dating 6 mths. later, but after 2 months and still heart broken, I told him I still wanted to be friends, but it wasn't fair to him to still have feelings for someone else. We parted company, he went to Iraq as a contract fire fighter for 2 years, I dated on and off, but we still kept in touch. After months of emails, Sept. 2006, he came home un expectedly and we started dating. He went back to Iraq, and we continued our relationship through email and phone calls, and only 2 r & r's 10 days each. I fell more in love with him during that year, and my kids love him. In March he wanted to take me to Cozumel, for sticking by him. We flew to Cozumel, staying at the Wyndham Resort and Spa March 23rd-29th. On the third day, we had rented a jeep for 24 hrs. and he wanted to find a secluded beach. We live by the Outer Banks in NC and had been there in December, got up early and watched the sun rise, and thought it would be neat to watch the sun rise on another coast. So March 25th, one year, six months and a day after we started dating, we got up at 5am, drove to that secluded beach, where he told me how much he loved me, could see himself spending the rest of his life with me, got on his knee and proposed as the sun was coming up. When we returned to the resort, there was a HUGE basket of flowers waiting for me. He is so good to me, my kids are thrilled, and I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together. He had planned to have my ring made, in Dubai before coming home, but didn't work out that he had enough time there. He went to Christian Bernard Jewelers in Norfolk, VA and had the ring made. It's a oval brilliant stone, little over a carat, with 1/2 carat round diamonds on the side in white gold. My wedding band matches the side stones. We couldn't be happier!!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
