Reception advice for Turks and Caicos wedding

I am looking for some advice for a reception restaurant for my wedding in T&C this July. We are staying at the Sands on Provo and are expecting about 25 guests. We were considering Anacoana at the Grace Bay Club but they will not allow an outside band or DJ. We are also considering Magnolia and the Bay Bistro at Sibonne. We really like the idea of being on the water. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Congrats! I've had gotten great response from several girls I've met randomly who have had their wedding in turks & Caicos. They all, ironically, used kissing fish caterers. They all raved about them. Joan responds so fast! i've already gotten a response and I just started planning. They do recptions at bistro bay (beach side) and Aqua (marina side). I'm sold on them! And pricing is reasonable, we're expecting 60+pp... Good Luck!

Hi congratulations to both of you! just wanted to find out how your planning is going, just spoke to a planner and thinking of Grace bay club though having having the reception at bistro bay sounds good too hmmm, anything that has reasonable pricing sounds wonderful to me. where are you and your guests staying?

I would reccomend Bay Bistro. They have a small deck where you can have cocktails and they are willing to set up tents out side or tables outside for a reception. It's also a 2 min walk on the beach from The Sands. Is your ceremony going to be held at The Sands? Joan and Clive are doing our rehearsal dinner on the beach - bonfire and all. Good Luck.

I'm sorry I was responding to an earlier thread. our guests are staying at The Sands. Jason who is the concierge guy there is very nice. he is settin gup the whole ceremony, which is ALOT cheaper than NILA or any of the other wedding planners. Just keep in mind if you have the recption at Grace Bay, they don't allow outside music.

thank you so much lttlhallie! feeling a bit overwhelmed, going to look into all your suggestions, like the looks of kissing fish catering trying to decide if we should just have a bonfire reception or is that too relaxed or as rehearsal dinner. Do you have any other activities planned was thinking a boat cruise...is it me or are there very few tc brides on this forum. thanks again for the info

Bay Bistro does a great reception and it's a nice little area on the beach. I have also seen the Sands having a small reception on the deck overlooking the beach with a DJ. Receptions at Grace Bay are lovely as well (the open fires and the cool long bar are really nice), but if you want to be on the beach, Bay Bistro tends to be it.

For cruises, you can check with Sail Provo (catamaran) or with Atabeyra (sun charters, which is a handbuilt sailing schooner). They do reception type events and sunset cruises that could be done on another night of the week.

There are very few T&C brides here and relative to most of the Caribbean islands. We have a very small percentage of the overall tourists that Mexico, the Bahamas, Jamaica and St Lucia etc have so our percentage of weddings tend to be smaller.

Bay Bistro has a great reputation on island (I do know Joan as a friend and she is meticulous in details with business and personal things). Grace Bay club is also a fabulous venue, there are always beautiful weddings there. If people are looking for a lower cost option and you are staying at the Grace Bay club, you may want to look at the Villa del Mar as an option for guests as well. We had a friend stay there a few weeks back (it opened in Nov) and it was really nice. (not on the beach but also better prices and the guests can socialize with you at GBC)

If you want ideas of what things can look like, check out our blog and look in the wedding sections, you can get ideas of resorts locations and boat trips as well. Sometimes a visual is nice to have. It's hard to plan long distance.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
