Cons: New ownership! Stay away!!

We just returned from our wedding in the Riviera Maya. I just wanted to write a review to save you ladies from some of the heart ache that I experienced.

We booked our rooms 8 months in advance and booked our wedding before that. We decided to have our ceremony at the Playcar Palace and then our reception at the Adventura Cove (where our group was staying).

The Adventura Cove changed my wedding coordinator 3 times before I was transfered to the onsite coordinator (1 week before leaving to Mexico). When the onsite wedding coordinator got in touch with me I still had not booked a reception location, decorations, food, or a DJ. Three business days before leaving for wedding they finally booked these items for me. Talk about stressful!!

Before we arrived, they told us that we had a $1,500 resort credit for each room that we booked for 7days and then when we got there, they informed us that it was only $500 per room. This really messed up the budgeting for our guests who had thought that some excursions/golf/ and spa activities would be included in their resort credit. Not to mention that I was told that the $1,500 would be applied to my wedding ceremony package.

The Spa side of the resort is adults only and the Cove side is family friendly. Within our week stay I was informed that a very large Jewish group had reserved the entire Cove side of the resort (except for us). Three days before we were to leave, my wedding coordinator at the Cove contacted me and told me that my guests that had children would have to eat in their rooms because all of the restaraunts on the Cove side of Adventura had been converted Koshir. They closed all of the bars, most of the pools,  and restaraunts on the Cove side of the resort to us. After many hours of desputing, they finally moved our entire group into Cancun because I was so upset.

To say the least, this was a complete stressful nightmare. One of the reasons I booked with Adventura Cove was because I thought that it would be stress-free and that I would have a wedding "coordinator" to help me with everything. I feel like this situation was more stressful than if I had just had it in the states. Please save yourself the heart ache and DON'T book with the Adventura Cove/Spa. I think that if we had stayed at the Playacar it would have been more stress-free, but I can't really say for sure. All I know is that the Adventura Cove/Spa was a complete disaster!
