Firstly a warning this will be a bit long but it is intended to be thorough for the couples out there that are thinking of getting married at Breezes Grand in Negril.

We were married here January  2012.

When I chose this resort we could not find many reviews of the resort and those we found were at least 5 years old. I booked the resort with the hopes that things would be perfect for our wedding and vacation.  Both my now Husband and I have travelled extensively so we have past experiences to compare this trip with.

Before we left we had a mix up with central reservations that was resolved quickly and efficiently. Honestly my only complaint about this resort would be my dealings with the reservation department.  Once the mistake was identified the staff at Breezes Grand went out of their way to correct things for us.

I was a pretty low key bride in dealings before we left. But that said any and all questions I had were answered very promptly by Tannif the wedding coordinator. I always felt she was simply an email away as our trip drew closer.

We had a group of 10 come with us for our wedding. Ranging in age from 32-60 and with a mix of couples and singles. Check in went smoothly and Anna and Annette at the front desk were great ambassadors for this resort. Everyone was very happy with their rooms.

The rooms were large and very clean. Honestly yes the decor is a bit “dated” but I would trade that any day for a large comfortable room with plenty of towels and a super comfortable bed. We all had booked beachfront suites and trust me these suites are truly steps away from the beach. The sound of the waves was our lullaby every night.

The mini bar was stocked daily with water, pop and beer. One of our group was an expecting mother and she had no issues getting extra water for her room.  Every request was met with a smile and a No Problem  or Ya Man.

The beach party on Monday night was a blast. Excellent food, drinks and entertainment. All in our group enjoyed that night the most. The Friday Gala was very nice with tons of food, beautiful decor and very classy entertainment.

Speaking of entertainment. The evening shows were awesome. My favourite was the talent show but each night was a unique show. Daytime entertainment was definitely more subdued but with the beach and water sports offered who needs croquet on the front lawn.  A shout out to Renee and all the entertainment staff for making sure the party continued into the night at the disco as well.

The food was very good in almost every place we tried. Like anywhere each couple had their own favourites based on their tastes but we all agreed on a few.

The food at Piacere was excellent as was the staff. Cornell and Johonny waited on our group for our wedding reception and they were exceptional by North American standards.

The Grand Cafe was our everyday favourite. Excellent food and no reservation needed. Texroy was an excellent server and enhanced our enjoyment. We did dinner as a group here one night and everyone enjoyed their meal.

The Reggae Cafe was awesome for lunch and late night snacks.  The jerk chicken, pork and the burgers were awesome! A must note is that they famous lamb chops though not on the menu can be ordered here as well. Also try the Coco bread! Juliet served us with a genuine smile every day and was a pleasure to know.

I never ate at the pasta place nor the Japanese restaurant but people in our group did and liked both of them.

The breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide variety of items. Ferron served us almost every morning and was a true gentleman. The lunch buffet in my opinion was lacking. I only ate there once before we discovered the Reggae Cafe for lunch.

The bars were plentiful with excellent service and top shelf alcohol if you asked for it. I enjoyed many a Stoli Vodka martini at the piano bar. The beach bar featured a delightful Patricia and her oh so yummy Lido Pride drink (The nemesis to a bride trying to stay slim..lol) they also had delicious Jamaican Patties. The main bar had great drinks and service with a smile.  Make sure to try the “Bob Marley” shooters!

The water sports were a blast.  Some of our group took the Hobie Cats out and others including my husband and I enjoyed numerous snorkelling trips. Mudslide was our boat’s captain and he went out of his way to ensure we had a great time in and out of the water.

The Wedding

When we arrived we met with both Tannif and Renee. We were shown the wedding and reception locations and talked through the planning. We were comfortable that all the plans had been made including my very specific bouquet I had ordered.

We had no clue what to expect on our wedding day. Honestly we had chosen the dream wedding package (Free) and I brought my own decorations expecting not a lot from the resort. I had a vision for our wedding and took the time to decorate the gazebo myself. We held our cocktail reception on the patio area overlooking the ocean.

When I walked down to the gazebo I was blown away by the additional decorations and efforts the wedding staff had put in to make our day spectacular. The cocktail reception area had been transformed to an elegant and very “wedding” appropriate location that exceeded even my wildest dreams. The gazebo was stunning and I was extremely proud to have my wedding here.

Tannif made my every wish a reality and then went above and beyond with details to make our day so special. The Minister was perfect and the ceremony very personal and exactly what we would have wished for.

After the ceremony our guests were treated to a lovely cocktail party with Jerk Chicken wings, California rolls, guava glazed lamb chops, duck spring rolls, wild mushroom crostini, new potatoes with sour cream and chives, crab cakes and fried plantains. There was far too much food and trust me everyone indulged! All our guests were taken very good care of by Tannif and Clayton who ensured their champagne glasses were always full. We were whisked away by Gary our photographer while our guests mingled at the cocktail party. Gary was phenomenal. I give him my highest recommendations for your wedding photographer.

We returned to have our first dance and cut our cake which was absolutely stunning! (The carrot cake was very tasty too!) As mentioned before our dinner was at Piacere and it was perfect.

We went up to the piano bar later in the evening and Ike serenaded us with a song just for us. It was a nice touch to a spectacular day. We did a bit of dancing in the disco and ended our wedding day with a walk down the beach. It just doesn’t get any better.

When we returned to our room we were pleasantly surprised by champagne on ice, Rose petal on the bed and in the bath as well as our leftover cake and a voucher for 3 free nights.

Breezes Grand went so far above and beyond my expectations I just can’t say enough about our experience there.

Here is a slideshow of some of our images by Gary from our day.
