Hey girls! I just got back from having our wedding at Cancun Palace (plus a beautiful 5 day honeymoon at Excellence Playa Mujeres...I highly recommend this hotel if any of you plan to stay in Cancun for your honeymoon...it was AMAZING!).   I know that I was desperately searching for information about Cancun Palace prior to my wedding so I'm hoping to provide you with as much information and pictures as possible.  We are still waiting to receive more pictures from guests/our photographer which I will post as soon as we get them!

Overall, my experience at Cancun Palace was wonderful!

Wedding Coordinator: Paola, our wedding coordinator was a pleasure to work with and extremely organized.  When we met with her for the first time, she had a huge folder with all of the emails we had exchanged during the past 3 months plus a list of everything we wanted.  She went through each item to make sure we were on the same page.  I made some last minute minor changes which was not a problem at all. I also brought a ton of decorations (16 mason jars, 48 tea light candles, hanging starfish for the ceremony, ect) and she set them up exactly how I asked and even made them look better than imagined! The day of the wedding, Paola was very easy to get a hold of if I had any questions or concerns. She was there the entire wedding and reception to make sure everything went smoothly.  My friends told me that a man selling hats walked behind us during the ceremony and Paola went over to him and told him to get out of the way! She was definitely monitoring the territory making sure our wedding was as special and private as possible.  Paola stuck around for the entire reception and made sure I was happy the whole time.  I can't thank Paola enough for making our wedding so beautiful and special!

Cancun Palace Resort: The resort itself is great! Very clean and modern. The rooms were very nice and great for getting ready in on your big day. I highly suggest you use your credit points to upgrade so you get a nice view of the sea.  It just made the experience 10 times better to wake up to the beautiful teal blue water!   The service at Cancun Palace is amazing! Every staff person was extremely generous and made you feel like you were royalty.  They were very professional and accomodating to your every need....even when you have a big group of people.  We had 40 guests and would often times go to dinner together and the restaurants made sure to set up big tables for us right away.  I highly recommend bringing money to tip the servers, room service, ect.  We brought over $200 of cash and spent it all of tips because the service was so wonderful and they appreciate it so much when you tip them American dollars, even if its only $1-3.   As for the food, the Mexican restaurant was delicious and so was the Italian restaurant, Leonardo's.  That's where we had our rehearsal dinner and the cuisine was delicious and beautiful at the same time!  The other food was okay. I'm not picky at all so I ate everything and thought it was yummy but it was alot of "american food" like hamburgers, chicken mcnuggets, nachos (with the nacho cheese not real cheese), and french fries.  I thought there would be more food native to Mexico but the resort caters to children and families more than adults.  Speaking of children, we choose Cancun Palace primarily because we had two little girls with us who were our flower girls so we couldn't stay at an adults only resort.  Just a heads up, there are lots of little kids running around and in the pool BUT its not horrible. I was just suprised to see children at the lobby bar at night when the bar turns into a "club" however, the swim up bars at the pool are awesome and are surrounded by adults.

The wedding (ceremony): The wedding was perfect! I loved the set up and everything was how I imagined.  I also paid for a violinist to perform and she was wonderful! It sounded absolutely beautiful! When I was walking to meet my dad before walking down the aisle, everyone (and I mean everyone) was staring at me and then they all started clapping and saying "congrats"! It was really fun and I didn't mind all of the attention but just expect to have many eyes of you :)  We had our good friend conduct the service which was special and it lasted about 30 minutes which was plenty considering how hot it was.  July is definitely known for being humid and hot and that is exactly how it was...but it was beautiful.

The cocktail hour: I added a Mexican trio for the cocktail hour that everyone loved! I highly recommend that if you are interested...they were great! The appetizers were delicious and the bar service was great...fast and efficient :)  I asked that servers to pass around Mojitos as our signature drink in the beginning which was fun.  Overall, the cocktail hour was great!

The Reception:  We had our reception on the Infinity Terrace between the pool and the beach.  I thought it was more private than the breeze terrace but I'm sure that is great as well.  There were still people in the pool during our cocktail hour and the beginning of the reception.  They were starring at us the whole time and would come up and say "hi".  They even started to dance to our music but honestly, it didn't bother me at all.  Everyone was out of the pool by 7pm so we had the whole place to ourselves! I opted for the bbq style buffet for dinner and it was delicious! Definitely the "mexican" version of bbq but that made it fun and different.  I also ordered a 2 tiered cake, all white with white lillies (see picture) and it was beautiful and delicious! I kept my decorations simple by ordering white lillies for centerpeices and I brought the vintage blue mason jars.  I also hired JSAV for the sound system but no DJ (we did our own music which worked perfectly cause we played all of the songs we liked).  I added lights and an extra speaker and we were good to go!  The reception ended around 10pm and we went inside to the lobby bar to dance more. By that time, my new husband made me go to bed since I had one too many tequila shots :) hahaha! Overall, it was a GREAT time and I know all of you Cancun Palace brides will love it!

Thanks for the wonderful review! We're getting married there Nov. 11. Did you choose a package or was it the complimentary wedding? Also, I choose the cocktail & reception to be on the garden terrace. Do you think that would be a good place? Its hard to imagine not being there. Thanks again & CONGRATS!!!

Congratulations! Thanks for posting a review. We are getting married there on April 28, 2012. Do you have any menus or other pdf documents to share? If so, that would be a HUGE help!

Dannie- I choose the complimentary wedding since I had an idea of what I wanted and it was easy to personalize the wedding with the complimentary wedding and make it your own...for example, I brought white starfish with raffia ribbon to hang on the aisle seats, then bought 2 large vases with sand and shells when I was there (Paola took care of ordering these for me) for the table at the end of the aisle. Other than that, I wanted a very simple ceremony (white was my main color :) so if that is something you are looking for, I would go with the complimentary wedding. Plus, when I did the math, it was less expensive to add on (violinist, ect) than the package. As for the Garden Terrace, I think that is a great option! Its in the middle of the main terrace and has lots of room for dancing, sitting, ect. What are you main concerns with a location? If you let me know that (private area, room for dancing, ect) I can give you other suggestions as well :)

Essential0929- I would be more than happy to send you menus and other information I have....please send me your personal email address and I'll email them to you!

Congrats ladies!! You will have soooo much fun!!!

Thank you so much for this! My fiance and I are planning our wedding for June 12th 2012 at either the Cancun Palace or Beach Palace and everything online is so vague! Did you use the resort photographer or your own? We are taking aroud 60 people with us, do you still think the garden terrace for the reception? Also, I totally agree with you about making the complimentary package your own, it definitely seems like the best option. I noticed that you had fresh flowers and I definitely want them as well but I have 10 bridesmaids! :) Was it crazy price wise?? You can email me personally if you don't want to mention prices on here. Thanks so much! You had a beautiful wedding!!

Thank you so much for this it was very helpful! My question was on the contract I noticed that you are NOT allowed to bring "outside vendors". I notice though that everyone brings at least a couple of suitcases full of things, so are the talking about just food and beverage, not decor? I ask because I am bring my own table linens and most of the decor and wanted to make sure it was allowed. Thank you!

Hi Courtney - I getting married at Cancun Palace April 28th. We are planning to bring down a lot of our own decor and will be working with CP's decor company for things like lanterns and table cloths. We are also using several outside vendors for the cost of the non-guest day passes. Please feel free to reach out if I can be of help in any way Happy Planning!

Hi Courtney- Yes, everything that you want to bring (table linens, ect) is allowed. Just make sure you tell them exactly how you want it set up and they'll be sure to do as you ask. You will have to use their services for food and beverage but you are free to bring whatever for decor. I used CP's decor company for the vases since I didn't want to pack them in my suitcase and risk them braking but I could have brought mine own if I wanted too :) So, feel free to bring as much decor as you like but be sure to check with Mexico customs (online) just to make sure everything you bring is permitted. For example, I read that I could bring dried flowers but customs took them from me before I entered Mexico which was a bummer. Have fun and let me know if you have any more questions!!

Thank you both for your feedback. Its such a relief to know that the linens will be OK. I don't know if this will help anyone, but I have a wonderful linen vendor in Miami (www.contempolinens.com). The shipping isn't too bad and they have exquiste table linens.

I definitely will use CP's decor for vases (we are doing sunken orchids) and lounge furniture. Do you guys know how much bridesmaids bouquets were? Our boutineers? They gave us a quote for $22 for the boutineers, which seemed a bit pricey.

Ecanja, do you have any recommendations/opinions about the reception locations? Its always hard to make these decisions prior to seeing them. Also, did you have cocktail hour on the beach? Was it expensive to do this? Does it cost extra for them to make a signature drink?

Thank you!
