Pros: Breathtaking resort grounds, over the top service, spa, food
Cons: We had to leave
We had our destination wedding at a nearby resort (Aventura Palace) and chose Grand Velas as our honeymoon spot from 4/23-4/28. From the time we entered Grand Velas's (truly grand) gates until check out, their attention to detail continued to wow us. Highly recommend the Grand Class suites - the 4th floor views were stunning! The chef-driven food is amazing - whether it was Room Service or the restaurants, we were impressed. Our favorites - Sen Lin and Lucca. The Spa is truly 5 star - if you stay at this resort, you MUST get a spa treatment and I highly recommend the water journey. The beach and pools were great as well. There were 2 conference groups there throughout our stay, but we never felt bothered by it - it was lively when we wanted to be around that, yet completely serene/peaceful overall. The grounds were nirvana-like and the service consistently exceeded our expectations - particular thanks to Vania & Dulce with the Concierge, Luis @ Lucca, Victor @ Frida, Pablo @ the Spa, and Renee from the Bell staff - all went above and beyond to ensure we felt special! For the physical beauty of the resort, food, spa, and most importantly service - it's worth EVERY penny. We enjoyed the perfect week and the only negative was we didn't have our wedding here & we had to check out! We look forward to returning for anniversary stays!Read more...
Pros: Amazing staff & wedding planner, breathtakingly gorgeous, World Class Resort
My husband and I had our Destination Wedding at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya back in December 2011. We conducted several site visits in the Cancun area and visited 15 or so resorts. When we first drove up to Grand Velas, we were stunned at how beautiful it is. The lobby's, ocean views, infinity pools and ambiance are literally breathtaking. Before coming to Grand Velas we knew it had a World Class reputation but seeing the resort brought it to a whole new level for us -- after visiting we knew we had to find a way to have our dream wedding at Grand Velas. Because my husband is Indian and I am Christian we wanted to have two weddings to celebrate both traditions -- Grand Velas helped our dream come true! The logistics for a "double-wedding" are too numerous to count, but in working with their Wedding Planner (Yazmin is AMAZING!) and the rest of the staff our dreams started to take form and become a reality. Pulling off an Indian Wedding in Mexico is a difficult task since it's not as big of an industry in Mexico as it is in the US (although it's growing), but we were able to pull it off, all the way down to bringing in an excellent indian chef from downtown Cancun to cater our Indian reception dinner, complete with Tandoori oven! My husband and I are very particular people in every sense, but we could not have been happier with the folks at Grand Velas. If you want to host a wedding that will truly WOW your guests in every sense of the word (and I haven't even mentioned the incredible brunches, 5 star restaurants and round the clock room service they will enjoy), I highly recommend Grand Velas. Several of our guests have said they want to go back to Grand Velas again to vacation, and there was even chatter about a 1-year or 5-year reunion at the resort. We can't wait to go back and vacation one day. Check out the pics from our double-wedding!!Read more...
