I would love to have dinner and reception party in CO lounge but 100 per person will be too much for us (with around 40-50 guests).

My hope though is that we would still be able to have a dance after the restaurant dinner, so if any of you have organized this instead of chill out lounge for whole night, plz share :) THANKS!

There is a possibility of having a private beach cocktail/reception after the dinner....but I am unsure how much it cost....if you read back several brides have opted for that options.

    best of luck.

    Hi Emfayed,

I was curious about the ceremony as well and came across this youtube video showing the ceremony.  I watched it with FI and we decided it wasn't for us but it definitely looks like a memorable ceremony for the couple and for all of the guests.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bnk5plQW9w8

I actually received a lot of information from the wedding coordinator Aracelli. She even sent me pictures of her own ceremony.  Upon review we decided it wasn't for us.

    This is a brief description:

It is done ON the beach, not the gazebo. It involves singing, dancing and the four elements. Guests stand during the entire 40 minute ceremony and at a specific moment they are asked to participate by voicing their wishes for the married couple.

The ceremony is done in Mayan or Spanish, but never in English.  A translator is 75$.

There is a first part to this ceremony it involves a sauna within an igloo...this is done the day before and lasts about 15min....if you need a translator it is another 75$.

I am trying to find out exactly what the Chill Out lounge is? Is this a private reception on the beach? I really want to have the reception on solid ground so people can wear shoes (not sandals)?? Any help would be appreciated!

the chill-out reception is a restaurant on the beach. You will be provided solid grounds and it is right by the beach side.  This is a private venue, thus you must pay for it per person.

    Hope this helps!

  4. Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has done the Mayan ceremony. I am debating between that or simply the symbolic ceremony. I have some specific questions that I would love to have answered by you.

    1. How does the ceremony unfold? I`ve read that it includes the four elements and that it lasts 40 minutes, but happens during these 40min.

    2. Can we inlcude our own vows? exchange or rings during the mayan ceremony?

    3. Does the chaman (not sure how to spell it) speak English or do we need a translator?

    4. At the GSP is the ceremony done in the Gazebo or on the beach?

    5. Anyone have pictures?

    6. What would you prefer, a regular ceremony or the Mayan one?

    Thanks!

  5. So I loved the idea of sky lanterns and told my mother I was planning on looking into them...

She replied by saying not too...Apparently my aunt has already purchased them and is bringing them down..but I am not suppose to know about it.

This said, should I still check with the resort if they allow them?

    Any input would be appreciated!

  6. Hey there,

I just love your video and every aspect of your wedding.  We must have similar tastes, because I chose a hairstyle very similar to yours and my dress is also alike! Anyway I loved the words that were spoken during the video and I read below that you wrote them out and they were inspired by quotes from this site. Would  you share that speech you wrote out for the minister? My email is [email protected].

    Thanks!

  7. best of luck to both of you brides. We unfortunately had to change locations, because our carrier changed the flight date after we sent out the invites...vacation was already booked by most of our guests and we couldn't delay our whole venue by four days :(

Good luck to all, I am now planning a mexico wedding!

  8. I have yet to read the entire thread, but was wondering if anyone has done the Mayan ceremony.

Here are more precise questions regarding it.

    1. Is it done in the Gazebo or on the beach?

    2. How does the ceremony unfold? I`ve read that it includes the four elements and that it lasts 40 minutes, but happens during these 40min.

    3. Can we still recite our own vows during the mayan ceremony?

    4. Does the chaman (not sure how to spell it) speak English or do we need a translator?

    5. What would you prefer, a regular ceremony or the Mayan one?

    Thanks!

Also how much time did you spend picking things out and going over final details before the wedding day?

Did anyone do the actual legal ceremony with the blood test and all?

Im diving in head first and not too sure what to expect!! two more months though and I'll be posting pics :)

SUNTANSAM I believe their isnt actually an option to choose sides, its the same options for both sides but if anyone knows better please correct me :)

    Hi Jessicuzie,

I was wondering if you actually went through with the beach reception...this is what we wanted to do.  Any chance you could send pictures my way?

I got married at the grand sunset princess on December 5th and it was amazing. We did the sunset gazebo and the chill out lounge and I wouldn't change a thing. Below are links to some photos you can see some of the chill out area and gazebo in them. I also got my hair and makeup done at the spa (didnt bring any pictures) and i was really happy with how it tuned out. We also did a trash the dress shoot a few days after the wedding and it was unbelievable. Highly recommend Juan Navarro as a photographer. If you have any questions let me know.

Wow!! I LOVE your pictures!!! Really love your whole venue!  I must ask.  It seems that you had 25 people at your wedding (tried to count on your place seating)...anyways, you were able to book the chill out venue for 25? I thought the package details said that it required a minimum of 40 people to book.  And this is at 100$ pp....Is this the price you paid?  Were you really only 25? Also could you share the cost for your photography and what it included?

    Thanks,

You could send it to my email at [email protected]  :)

Thats great news Emfayed - so exciting! Where are you flying in from? Do you know which side you are staying on Riviera/Sunset? Have you decided any other details yet?

Best of luck with your planning as well! Lets stay in touch :)

We are staying on the sunset side and will be having swim-up rooms....we are leaving from Montreal, but some of our guests are from TO....my spouse is originally from Toronto.

Still haven't decided anything regarding the venue, wedding package, and so on...just booked. We were innitially going to Panama.  Everything was booked, invitations sent out and then the airline cie, switched the flight date...by four days. So we had to cancel.

Oh well, everything happens for a reason I guess!

Any advice you can send my way would be appreciated.

My personal email is [email protected]

    All the best!

After a long process of planning, my fiance and I decided on the Grand Riviera Princess and will be getting married July 2, 2013! We have a group of around 40 (including kids) coming down for 1 week with us (we are all from Toronto). We chose the Royalty Package which includes dinner at one of the a la carte restaurants and then the private cocktail beach reception after.

I'm still trying to decide on the restaurant - does anyone have insight or feedback? Also, I know there are set menus with the restaurants - what happens if you choose a set menu that has meat and you have people that are vegetarians? Is it possible to have options for both vegetarians and non vegetarians?

Also, I've heard the DJ isnt that great - does the DJ bring his own speakers? Or is it just a dock that he uses? Are we better off bringing our own dock and music? We really enjoy our loud music so I'm wondering if the dock would be loud enough?

Lastly - does anyone have pictures of their private beach reception? I hvaent seen very many but I'd really like to.

Any other brides going to be around during that time?

    :D So excited!!

guess I will be seeing you there Triuphbiss...We are arriving on the first and getting married on the 4th...still not decided on the whole venue thing...best of luck with the rest of your planning!

My guests enjoyed it and it was a really nice change from the resort food.

We all went to Alux: http://www.aluxrestaurant.com

It was absolutely gorgeous!!! We had 26 people in all for dinner and our coordinator at Alux gave us a group menu with special pricing. It was worth it

please forward the details of your venue to my email. [email protected]

I love the idea of going off site!

    Thanks for sharing!

  14. Hi, I was wondering if you could give me an update on your wedding at the Palladium.

I was getting married in Panama this upcoming July and last week the flight were canceled....we muast now look for a new destination.  The Grand Palladium is one of the options still available in our price range.

I'm not crazy about the pictures I've seen, but wonder if you might have had a great experience.

    Thanks for any advice.

  15. Hi all,

I have been racking my brain trying to find the ideal place to be wed....REALLY hard to please everyone.  Well, I think we have finally find the place;  Royal Decameron is fitting the bill.  I would love to have your feedback past brides...I would love to see pictures....

Is the language barrier really an issue?

How was the beach? Is it long and walkable? My grand-father has a bit of a mobility issue...will the largeness of the resort be a problem for him?

Also, has anyone been in June or July (rainy season)? because we are considering doing it then.

Thanks for any and all help!
