  1. Could use some help ladies!!  The big day is less than a month away now, and I still have to find shoes.

Here is my dress: http://www.sinceritybridal.com/sin/3658   My concerns... because it's not your typical full bottom bridal gown I'm worried that when I walk my feet will stick out because of the flowy material..does that make sense?  I'm also worried about tripping on the dress because of the chiffon material..you almost have to kick the dress out when you walk, which is tough to do with the light material.   I originally wanted to wear heels so I would not have to alter the dress, so I ended up buying these shoes: http://www.dsw.com/dsw_shoes/catalog/product.jsp?fromPage=shoppingBag&category=dsw12cat520016&brand=&prodId=dsw12prod2980013&no_redirect=1&skuId=58000000002020760200000M008.5&productRef=SEARCH&qty=1&item=ci8212019203   Finally tried the dress on with the shoes, and I'm not digging it.  I think a more "strappy shoe" fits the dress.  Also, the dress is still too long, even with heels.  I just had to find a last minute tailor to alter the length of my dress, so now I have the option of wearing heels or flats.  Another concern I had was my heels going through the pool deck...are the cracks large enough for your heel to get stuck??!   I'm not into the barefoot jewelry and was hoping for something to compliment the dress (white or silver)...unfortunately it can't have a lot of bling on it because the rhinestones will snag the chiffon.  I'm beyond frustrated!  BangHead.gif   Any suggestions/advice?

Only a couple months until the wedding so I didn't want to have to get the dress hemmed..I have yet to try it on with the dress but I'm hoping for the best. :))

Help! No clue where to begin for my shoes...

I can't have anything too blingy because chiffon snags so easily

I want to wear heels so I do not have to alter the length of the dress but I can't find anything that "matches" the dress..I'm worried it's either too casual, or too dressy.

    Any advice?

  5. I also panicked and contacted my TA, and he contacted the resort...they said everything is okay - it says 4 days on their website because they want to allow enough time in the event of any travel delays and to make sure you have enough time to meet with the WC at the resort.

Even had Evangelina confirm in writing - she said:

According to our conversation phone , I confirm our mutual client can travel and get here on 14th and they can get marry on 17th, 2012… There is enough time to can have the meeting with their wedding coordinator..

Especially if there are already 2 weddings the day after.

  8. Would you mind sending me your spreadsheet as well?

Just found out from Yamina the buffet option is only available if you have more than 25 guests.  Also heard back from Yamina about the Ultimate Package, here's my question and her response:

If we select the Ultimate package can we remove the Waterford Yours Truly Champagne Flute Pair, the Live Mexican music trio, and the Video of the ceremony - then use that for credit towards a DJ or a photography package? Unfortunately, the packages are unchangeable or reimbursed if unused. In that case, if the package is not convenient for you, we recommend you to have the wedding “a la carteâ€. However, it can become more expensive.

I had an excess of time when I was weighing the decision on which package to choose so I put together an excel spreadsheet with all the details for each.. If you want me to send it to you I can, you would just have to tweak some of the numbers to reflect your 40 people, because mine is only for 30.

Post your e-mail address if you want it.

PS- You're getting married two days before me!

  9. OMG thank you!!!! Had Yamina send me the buffet options, which I had no idea existed - those options are right up my alley! Picky eaters unite! :)

As far as the food goes, I am a picky eater myself so we are going with the buffet. It had a lot more "normal" choices and stuff I'd actually eat. I couldn't find anything on the regular menus that I would either.

Hope this helps a little bit.

  10. Oooh cool! Congrats!! :-)  TONS of May brides! Great minds think alike!

I didn't realize they had a buffet option until SAVS mentioned that - I think we will end up doing that for dinner then mixing and matching the gold/silver for the appetizers.  I honestly probably won't even bother with centerpieces, (1) I don't want to have to pack/ship them (2) Mexico is beautiful as it is! (3) I'm trying to cut costs in every way possible!.  We're having a big reception back home so that's where we are doing the more formal settings.  I'm glad you told me about the substitution of the Mexican trio, if that's the case we will definitely go with the Ultimate package!

How do you plan on notifying your guests of the timeline? That's where my biggest hang-up is.  I don't have a clue when our cocktail hour, ceremony or reception is.  Also don't know where everything will take place.  I just emailed Yamina to ask her about all of that, so we will see.  I would love to have everything planned out ahead of time so I can tell my guests where they need to be and when.  Beyond that we're all doing our own thing...I feel so unorganized!

    • I've heard that if you don't want the Mexican Trio you can transfer the cost of that ($560) towards something else. The sound system is $180/hr + 11% tax. And don't forget that includes ceremony which is the same price

Hope this helps  ! What have you decided on so far ? for colours, locations, etc.

  11. I'm a newbie, and this is my first post!  Holy cow, you girls have your stuff together!  I'm impressed!  We will be married on May 17, 2012.  We are working with Dennis from DestinationWeddings.com and Yamina is our wedding coordinator (which was changed from Evangelina, and Ana before that).

We qualify for the complimentary package and have been debating whether we should upgrade to the ultimate.  The "extra" things the Ultimate package includes are below.  Has anyone else had this dilemma? I just wonder if it will be cheaper to pay for everything a la carte.  How in the world are you girls able to coordinate everything and make your guests aware? I've seen cute wedding brochures that go in the Welcome bags - but I don't have a clue on timing or locations...I'm just worried it will be a cluster %$!@ - HELP! We're not expecting more than 20 guests or so, so it we hope it will be very intimate and casual.

    ·  Personal Dressing Assistant (donâ€t need)

    ·  Special Gold Wedding Dinner party (for 20 guests staying at the hotel) (i'm a picky eater, and couldn't find anything on the gold menu that i liked, waiting to hear from Yamina about the silver and platinum menu)

    ·  1 Natural Floral Centerpiece for Bride & Groom dinner table (floral centerpieces start at $70)

    ·  1 Natural floral center piece for ceremonial table(floral centerpieces start at $70)

    ·  Wedding cake and sparkling wine for 20 guests (10 guests included in complimentary)

    ·  One hour Gold cocktail party with Hors D`Oeuvres (for 20 guests staying at the hotel) (again, couldn't find anything i liked)

    ·  Bride's hairstyling for ceremony (waiting to hear back from the spa on prices)

    ·  Make-up application for bride (waiting to hear back from the spa on prices)

    ·  50 Full color photos with album (regardless of the package, we would want to upgrade, which for us would tack on an additional $999 to the price of the ultimate package)

    ·  Waterford Yours Truly Champagne Flute Pair (donâ€t need)

    ·  Gazebo décor based on chairs with white covers, ceremonial table & carpeted walk way. (colored chair covers $6 a piece--any idea how much white ones are?)

    ·  Live Mexican music trio ( 1 set) (donâ€t need, would actually prefer the DJ but we're considering renting sound equipment and creating an iPod playlist)

    ·  Video of the ceremony (30 min DVD edited) (may try to have one of our guests tape it)

    ·  1 Spa treatment to choose from : 1 Swedish massage for two or 1 European facial for two or 1 Salt Glow Body Scrub for two (waiting to hear back from the spa on prices)

Eva said we can use the cocktail hour credit towards our reception dinner. We will have the Mexican Trio that's included in our package play at the Beach Bar.

Thanks for the reply and answers...funny enough, Yamina has been a doll in answering promptly...almost daily!  I booked the Gazebo for the ceremony because I did not want to fuss with additional costs of a canopy...plus I love the Gazebo and how grand looking it is the way it is....:)  I was also able to confirm the pool deck.

Do any of you know if the wooden garden chairs are free to use like the banquet chairs?  I am bringing all my centerpieces decor, table cards etc with me in suitcases....I heard keep all your receipts for carry on luggage items you packed in case customs haggles ya....in case some of you ladies didnt read it in a past review.

Do you guys think its a bad idea to not have a DJ?  i mean $300 an hour is steeeeep!  What about if i load my ipod full of 4-5 hours of songs, rent the sound systems....and just have a friend introduce us...plus that would be more personal...any of you thinking to nix the DJ as well?

mnunez2!:  I am getting married the day you arrive...yes I am sure we will bump into each other! and ill be able to peek your wedding...:)  My original date was your date!  and they told me it was all booked up ;)  Thursday is good too though afterall...gives me the edge of being able to book alot of things freely such as locations since its not a popular day to get hitched.
