I would say Hobby Lobby.. but since you don't have one... I'll have to see if I can find sites that ship to Canada since Im not sure if HL does or not. hmm... There is also a place I am thinking of that sells real touch flowers online. I'll let you know as soon as I find the site.

Oh no.. I had a feeling though. it happens.

hmm... Surely there is.. If not, check out ebay. ;o)  I too will look to see if I see anyone online that ships to Canada for a fair price.

  3. Good Morning Ladies,

Do to my recent decision to call off my wedding I am looking for someone who may be wanting to have Jamie Dimitry as their photographer on Wednesday, May 29th, 2013. I had already paid my retainer fee, so I'm hoping I can find someone to replace me so that I can work out a deal with Jamie. Please, please, please let me know if interested. I see that I am loosing a lot of money by calling of this wedding so anything helps.

I have confirmed for Wednesday, May 29th, 2013 for a 4:00 ceremony at the Gazebo and was wanting to check if anyone else is interested in the slot so that I can let the coordinator know before I cancel it and it goes to someone outside of our forum.

If anyone is interested in any of my items, please see my classified ad.

  6. cheer2.gif I just found out there was a cancellation on our wedding date. So we can move our ceremony from 6:00 to 4:00.

Sooo.. I need help with my timeline.

    4:00 Ceremony at the Gazebo

6:30 Semi-private dinner at the Sea & See

    8:30 Reception

Does this sound like a good timeframe?

I hate the 2 and 1/2 hour gap from ceremony to dinner. But I want to make sure we have plenty of time for newlywed pics, family and friend pics with us. This will also allot time for the guests to freshen up or change shoes, etc. And if I feel it's still too much time, maybe I can coordinate a gathering at the Lobby bar before dinner. :o)

  7. YAY.. I can finally post again!!!  Now if only I could respond to my huge pile of PM's. :o(

Okay... So here's my take on things..

I def want an at home reception. I know many of our family and friends wont be able to attend our destination wedding so I think it's a perfect excuse to get our two families together and all of our friends together to meet each other and have fun. And of course celebrate us as newlyweds. :o)

I love the Champagne and Brunch idea to welcome the Newlyweds. LOVE!  As far as days to hold the event, I would have preferred a Friday night to lower costs but my family lives in AL, Fiance's in GA and the reception is to be held in GA. So, we have to do a Saturday in order for my family and friends from home to travel. Max of 2 hour trip to my venue options from my home town. and 30 min drive or so for the Ga locals.

I am looking into two venues.. Both of which include all the basic set ups and I plan to just add chair sashes that I will also be using at our DW for a splash of color. The catering prices vary, but also offer their own caterer and no outside caterers are allowed. I was thinking of heavy hor'dourves but some prices I've seen it's actually cheaper to go with a plated dinner. One of my venues offers a plated grilled chicken and veggies for $15pp. And we plan to do a wine and beer if possible because it is soo much cheaper than a full bar. Many of our guests don't drink and I don't want anyone to get sloppy and who doesn't like wine? One of my venues even offers an bar that once you reach your set budget of say $500 of drinks they then turn it into a cash bar. (Maybe this could be an option for you also.)

We plan to have pictures from the wedding out and maybe even a slideshow and our wedding video possibly. With of course me wearing my dress, dancing, and wedding cake.

This weekend they also had 10% off the entire site. I don't know how often they run specials, but if you sign up for their emails, they send out notices. I ordered the pumpkin color which is more a true orange than a deep pumpkin color.

do you mind posting pics?? My colors are orange and pink. :o)

Awesome to hear. :o) Post pics of your progress. :o)

I just used regular mini gluesticks that fit in my hot glue gun. And purchased the white tulle from hobby lobby.

I've seen the folding ones, they would be perfect for travel since they are soo compact. I personally like the raffia ones more. I ordered mine from Orientaltrading.com.  There was no size to choose from, they are just assorted. Most are the same size, but a few are larger and a few are like mini fans.

i'm not exactly sure yet, maybe 30-40? I would imagine that they wouldn't count kids for example, but i don't know about other people who wouldn't drink because how would they be able to keep tabs on who is drinking and who's not? Are you using the resort dj? ugh some of this stuff is so annoying to plan!! LOL.

That's true.. I'm sure you would count all adults... surely not children though. If you have over 30 guests it will probably be cheaper to go with the packaged reception as it is for up for 60 guests.. I wish I had our numbers now. :-/

We will probably end up going with the resort DJ. I think going with them is $300-400 cheaper. And with us having an at home reception also, it makes sense for us to save as much as possible to work in both receptions.I've read great reviews on the resort DJ also though. I'd love to just use an iPod.. but idk.. I do know the last time I went to a wedding the DJ got on my nerves! lol..

Oh and I went ahead and booked the wet bar. Def a great idea in the event of rain. And also I read that the max persons for the parrot bar is 50 guests... While I don't think we will have that many guests.... I still don't want us to be cramped and no room for dancing, just in case.

  12. hmm.. actually.. I don't know if drilling a hole will work since I went with the thinner letter.. I'll have to look at it when I get home to see how thin it really is.. But I'm sure I can also attach the dowel or rod to the backside of the letter. I haven't completely thought this part through obviously... :-/  but I know we will find something that works perfectly. ;o)

This looks so good!! Did you finish doing the back as well? How exactly are you going to put it on the cake? I got inspiration from you and a few other girls on this board to make this myself. I just got my letter in the mail. Its a "V" but I'm wondering HOW i'm going to get in on the cake!?

I have to be honest and say I have been slacking lately... Well I was also sent to Houston, TX for work for 8 days. and now we are trying to arrange our Reception for our DW and our at home reception. And after the cake topper, I started working on a no-mess aisle runner. Whew..

As far as the placement.. I''m thinking of affixing a dowel into the bottom of my letter. Possibly by drilling a small hole and the inserting the dowel or metal rod into the hole and using E6000. Hope this helps.

  14. Of course I am going to recommend my resort... Majestic Elegance. It also seems to be very popular. You can get married on the beach or at the Gazebo. they have doration packages to choose from or you can bring your own items to be set up. You can do a free dinner at the Sea & See and the Asadito Steakhouse for up to 60 guests or you can have a private dinner. The are more pricey so you will notice many opt in for the semi private since it's almost the same. the private dinner 70pp which includes venue fee, basic setup, buffett dinner, and open bar.

What I am doing.. 6:00 Ceremony at the Gazebo, 7:30 Semi-private dinner at the See & Sea. 9-11 reception at the Wet Bar. I would have liked a 5:00 ceremony time, but oh well.

If you go with semi-private dinner it's all free and included. And you can do a private reception at the Parrot Bar or Wet Bar for $500 per hour which includes basic setup, venue fee, open bar, and sound system to plug in your iPod.

    Symbolic Ceremony Fee: 1250.00

Let me know if you have any questions on this resort. Also, we have several foreums within this one about Majestic Elegance.
