  1. @ItalyLove--a planner is THE way to go.  The Italians have very complicated requirements for getting married legally in their country, which the planners will know all about.  I'm getting married in Florence in a 35 days (EEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!) and planning has been an absolute breeze!  We're doing an AHR at home too and the wedding in Italy is a joy to plan in comparison.  Anyway, I'm using Original Tuscan Wedding (http://www.originaltuscanwedding.com/index.php?pag=latestweddings) and they're amazing--two women, one British and one American with great taste.  If you have any questions, just ask!

  2. Our AHR is turning out to be twice the work of our DW :(

Choose a DW for the ease and simplicity of it and don't ruin that choice by basically throwing a second wedding.  It's a runaway train!!!!!  We were originally going to have a small cocktail party for the family that wasn't invited to the DW and now it's a 140 person sit down!  What. A. Nightmare.

  3. Ack!  This is just the post for me.  My FH has a HUGE catholic family, so they've convinced me to throw an AHR when we get back from our DW in Italy.  Initially I didn't care to do it, but once I started planning all the stuff I wouldn't get to do with my DW, I got psyched.  And now the general un-enthusiasm has been seeping in from the family members--they all want to skip it because it's not the "real" wedding!  So, because you don't get to sit through a 7 1/2 minute ceremony, it isn't REAL??  My FMIL isn't even coming :(
