Hopefully you'll be posting pics, we would love to see them!!!!!  Thanks!

We used the dj. I didnt want to worry about any of that. He did great! We recommended a few songs which he played most of them and then he added his own. All good dance music!

Hey! I just got back from Las Caletas. Our wedding was on the 16th. It rained for our wedding but it didnt stop us. We powered through it. It was actually pretty nice and fun. I made it through the ceremony and first dance before it started to sprinkle and proceeded to pour. They do clear out tables and make room for a dance floor where you'd normally eat! Everything turned out perfect. There was nothing I could do to stop the rain so I just went with it!

Good luck! Everything will turn out perfect!

Thanks for the info, Ann.  Was your welcome dinner at Dreams considered a private event?  Did you have to pay for this?

We are having our "welcome dinner" at Dreams as well. We are meeting for cocktails at one of the hotel bars and then heading over to Mexican Fiesta night. All is free. They even reserved space for us.

  4. ugh! I just got an email from Dennise about the photographer fee. I had asked her if I needed to include the photographer in our head count and she replied "Depends, if the photographer is a friend and included in your wedding it is only$ 50 but if its an outside photographer there is a $300 extra fee". I should have never asked that question. My contract right now says $50. So frustrating. I'm trying to fight it but we'll see what happens.! I booked about a year ago and that charge was NEVER mentioned.

  5. I had a hard time with this as well. I put "beach formal" on my invitations. I'm sending a brochure out as the wedding gets closer and I'll include more specifics like woman can wear sundresses and men can wear collared shirts with pants. Does anyone have a better suggestion?

  6. Thank you for this info!! so helpful. How far in advance did you reserve the tables for Mexican Fiesta night? I think that's what we are going to do.

I just got back on Friday from my wedding at Dreams. It was absolutely amazing!! Fatima did such an amazing job with everything. I will post a review within the week for all of you to read.

I was in the same position as all of you for the welcome dinner and cocktails, this is what we did (with 49 guests):

We arrived on Friday and had previously reserved tables at the Mexican Fiesta night on the beach for 7pm, I just spoke with Roman Garcia who reserved the spots for us for free ([email protected]). We had asked our guests to meet us at the Rendez Vous (lobby) bar for predrinks, we did not reserve tables, we just showed up right at 5:30 and pulled a bunch of tables together, they did not mind at all. So all in all we payed nothing for our welcome cocktails and dinner.

The night before the wedding we had the bonfire as our informal rehearsal with a big pinata (sooo much fun!) a few speeches and we just all got to hang out, have a few drinks and relax the night before the wedding. I would totally recommend this to anyone as their welcome cocktails or rehearsal event. I think we payed around $500 for this so it is a fairly cheap option if you're wanting privacy and your own bartender etc.

Most restaurants open at 6:30pm. The largest one is the World Cafe buffet, Oceana I think would be 2nd largest then El Patio, Seaside and finally Portofino.

    Hope this helps!

  7. For the recent brides...is it still true that if you opt out of the site visit you're able to use those boat passes towards the day of the wedding for any extra people to go over with you and the bridesmaids? I had heard that but I just wanted to make sure. I think its kind of silly they make us pay $76 for more than 4 bridesmaids.

P.S. Both of your weddings looked beautiful. It got me more excited for mine!

  8. Hi Kenna,

Its good to know someone else is in the same position. They also quoted me that amount to rent out a restaurant. The price is ridiculous. I looked into River Cafe in the downtown area and that is also pricey (at least in my opinion). They want $38 per person for 3 course meal and $10 pp for drinks plus 15% gratuity.  We have about 50 people coming. We wanted to have our welcome dinner on Friday night at El Patio at Dreams but the restaurant is closed that night due to the Mexican Fiesta they have. So, we're either going to have a bonfire on the beach (still need to get a quote on that and it might be redundant since Las Caletas has one as well), attend the Mexican Fiesta they have or just have welcome drinks at one of their bars. I'm confused on what to do.

I tried really hard to set up a welcome dinner and/or drinks with the Dreams for when we arrive, but found it impossible. They wanted $5,000 for a dinner at the Oceana restaurant, and $85/person for drinks/cocktails on the beach! It was ridiculous.

After months of going back and forth with the concierge on options, I finally decided to drop the idea. I can send you the ridiculous email threads if you like. I'm still going to show up at the Oceana the night I arrive with my guests in the hopes that they can just accommodate all of us for dinner, and then I'm going to suggest we all meet at the pool bar for cocktails afterwards. I tried a bunch of ideas - renting out a suite (they wanted thousands for that too) and it all just seemed ridiculous. They wanted a lot of money...more than what I'm paying for the wedding at Caletas!

If you have better luck than I did, please let me know!

  9. Hi ladies,

We're getting married at L.C. in June and staying at Dreams P.V. We want to have a welcome dinner at the hotel but they don't take reservations. Have any past brides had their welcome dinner at that resort? Our only concern is that we are have about 50 guests and are afraid we won't be able to sit together. We would just have drinks at one of the bars at the resort but we'll have small children with us.

  10. Awesome, Thank you. Unfortunately I haven't posted enough and I'm unable to see the pictures. I'm sure it looks amazing.

Here's a picture of my hair and make-up trial to give you an idea.

  11. Good to know! Do you know if the new makeup artist is charging the same as Fernando?

  12. Hey ladies,

I noticed that some brides had the beads hanging from their Chuppa's. Did that cost extra and if so how much? Did you have to bring them yourselves or did Kelley provide them for you?

Also, I'm having approx 60people attend the wedding. I'm just wondering how many tables I would need. I'm trying to order my table # signs

    THanks for the help!
