Hi DeAngelis2be,
I had mine almost the same date (12-4-10) and I scheduled mine for 4:30. I ran late, so it was more like 4:45, but I thought the timing was good anyway. I didn't want to be too hot or anything during the ceremony. It really depends how long your ceremony will be and how long you need afterward for pics. We did some family and bridal party ones afterward, and my husband and I did some outside and then did a bunch inside as well. I liked the time since we had cocktail hour from 5:30 - 6:45 and then reception at 7:00. If we had finished much earlier, I don't know what guests would have done in between (or I guess we could have started reception earlier...).
Enough of my rambling...hope this helps!

Yes, I took pics in between. We god some sunset ones but it did get dark quickly. We took a lot of pics inside, too, though. I did run late, so if I was on time we would have had more time for outside pictures.
I actually just got all my pics uploaded and I will post them on this thread shortly!

Thank you! The wedding was at 4:30 (but I ran a bit late) and the cocktail hour was 5:30-6:45 and the reception from 7:00-11:00. It worked perfectly!

Thank you!
My flowers were all dendrobium orchids. Mine were all purple (with white centers) and the girls were mostly purple with some white orchids throughout. I loved the way they turned out! Let me know if you have any other questions

Rehearsal Dinner
I would like to have a rehearsal dinner at Aunt Ruby’s on Friday 3/11 at 7:30pm. It does not have to be private, we would just like to sit together. There will be no additional cost for this right?
Ceremony
5PM beachside
Is there actually a rehearsal? We did have an actual rehearsal the day before at the same time. We just walked over from the pool in our bikinis.
What is the ceremony script? We met with the officiant a couple days prior and went over it. We already had programs, though, so I wanted it to match that. It basically went: Introduction, Reading, Vows, Exchange of Rings, Sand Ceremony
Where does the bride enter from if it is beachside?
Where is the back-up location in case of rain?
Is there proper equipment for my ceremony singer to plug in his keyboard and amplifier? They had speakers right on the beach for other weddings I saw (we had a band).
Cocktail Hour
6PM Lobby Terrace
Is the terrace large enough to hold 55pp for the cocktail hr? The one at the Grand can hold TONS of people and I think the one at the Suties was the same set-up and size.
How much is the saxophone player?
Can the bar in the lobby be used? We had a "Welcome Cocktail Hour" a few days before the wedding. We used the lobby bar for drinks but they still set-up high-boy tables for us outside. There were even some waitresses who came around taking drink orders and we didn't pay for this, either.
Reception
7:30PM Calabash
Is the restaurant large enough for 55 seated and dancing?
DJ $450 Can he use an Ipod?
Can we use our own MC?
Where do I change into my reception dress?
Will all the decorations I bring down be set up for me? I brought TONS of decorations and they set them all up for me.
Can the cake be 3 different flavors? A flavor for each tier?
Checkout
We have to check out really early Sunday morning, when do we settle the bill? We paid ours at checkout but asked for a copy the day before so we could review it.
Marriage License
When do we receive our marriage license? They said it takes 4-6 weeks as I recall. Ours was December 4th and we haven't received anything yet.

I used them for my wedding (and they did a great job) but they were oftentimes difficult to get hold of. I called, though, and they were always so helpful when I did so you might want to try this.

Hi mrsdeloatch2be,Glad it helped But please please don't be down about your wedding! Trust me, having a destination wedding was the BEST decision I've ever made (well, other than deciding to marry my now-husband)! My entire family and all of our friends can't stop talking about it and what an amazing week it was. With standard weddings you get 5 hours with all of your loved ones...we got several days! It was hands down the best week of my life and I'm sure your wedding week will be yours, too

Thanks Again and Congratulations!!!

Hi MsSmithtobe,
The resort actually provided that box. I had told my fiance to get one and he didn't so we just didn't take one and the Wedding Coordinators happened to have one.
This site has them, though. At the bottom of this page they have metal and wooden boxes. I really liked the wooden ones but didn't want to spend the money...

Hi jonesr1979,
I am going to check to see how many of the lavender and lilac laterns I have and will get back to you asap. I think I ordered 4 of each color so I probably have 8 (in varied sizes) but I will confirm.
Thanks,
Maura

Hi everyone,
I am getting married at Iberostar Grand on 12-4-10 (soon...woohoo!). I have bought a TON of decorations, etc. that I am taking down with me and I would love to not bring it back so I was wondering if anyone who is getting married at Iberostar after me might be interested in buying it all. It would save you a lot of time in research, and money since you don't have to buy it at full price or pay shipping on anything. And you wouldn't have to bring it all down with you!
I have the following items:
- 32 paper lanterns in 6 different colors (a mint green, aqua, turquoise, blue, lavender and lilac) along with the LED lights.
- 36 floating votive candles and holders (the candles will be burned but their burn time is more than twice what my wedding length will be)
- Sea glass in various shades of blues, whites, clear and aqua (for decorating the tables)
- 2 sets of net lights, which I will use to wrap around poles a the entrance to the reception location
- 50 yards of tulle, which I am using to wrap around poles or to separate rooms (exact use TBD)
- 50 starfish to be used for table seating cards (tying ribbon around them and attaching seating card).
- 10 turquoise crinkle taffeta table overlays (for over the white table cloths)
Hm, I think that is it. Please let me know if anyone is interested in any, or all, of the above and I can just leave it at Iberostar!

I am also doing name cards attached to starfish. Are you putting them in a box with sand? I haven't been able to find a good box (that is affordable). My friend used some cooking sheet or pan and spray painted it to match her wedding colors. And other ideas?

Tropical Love,
I googled how to make an inspiration board and it doesn't sound too hard...of course I don't feel like taking the time to do it. Then again, all my decisions are pretty much made so anymore inspiration might confuse me! I looked at the bridesmaid dresses again and they are kind of a mint green/aqua and I think they are so pretty!
I will be able to send you all of my pictures in just a couple months!

Hi Tropical Love,
We thought about having a bonfire the night before the wedding; however, we can't afford a ton of "extras" and we figured why pay for the cocktails/bonfire whe there are plenty of bars close by with drinks already paid for through the all-inclusive deal. Also, we didn't want to fill every night since people are making this a vacation and might want to do their own thing. I saw some pics of other people who did the bonfire, though, and it did look like a lot of fun!

This looks like tulips and orchids, though I am not totally sure. And I am not sure what type of orchids they are. Hope this helps!

I've seen a lot of posts about booking costs and timing, etc, so I wanted to weigh in on what we did, which seems to be working so far (fingers crossed that it keeps working!).
Â
We worked with a travel agent about 6 months prior to the wedding and got a group rate through her. We DID have to put down a deposit for a certain number of people, but there was no penalty if we went over that so we booked at the very low end of how many people we thought would come. We actually asked a lot of our friends and family if they thought they would make it so we had some vague idea of what the numbers would be. Now the money we put down as our deposit ($50 pp, as opposed to other Travel Agents we had talked to who wanted $100-$150 pp) just goes towards our hotel stay.
Â
We didn't do anything with the flights because we have people coming from 10+ different airports and it would have been too difficult to organize that.
Â
Good luck everyone!

Thanks, eholt!
My photographer was Neville, a Sungold associate. We really loved working with him and am very happy with how the pics turned out!
