  1. There are probably 2 different 'groups' of photographers. Those who shoot destination weddings as a business and those who like to take a trip or two every year, have the trip paid for and make a couple hundred bucks while they are there.

The first group is probably better prepared to work for you. they know the area, the people, the language, awesome locations and secret spots. This is of added value to you and will ultimately result in better photos. If photography is important to you...and why would it not be, it's all you will have in a year, 10 years, 20 years then the question is not 'what are others paying' it should be 'what are YOU willing to pay' for a photographer that is going to rock your world. Because photography is so subjective you should find one that fits your style best. Classic and traditional? Edgy? Creative?

    Ask yourself this...

If a photographer who normally charges $3000-6000 for local weddings, WHY are they offering coverage to you for $500 or $1000? What are you missing out on?

    Good luck!!

  2. When are you going to be getting married Shell? I always suggest you do a bunch of research, find the photographer you LOVE and then go from there. Ask to see full wedding portfolios, not just the good shots on a website. The benefit of hiring a local *(local to you) is that you can get in touch with them and meet them face to face before the wedding. You could always look into 'sharing' a photographer as well as some will be in the same area at the same time as your wedding and you can avoid travel costs.

    Good luck!

  3. hey,

You could always do a search for umount or self mount albums. these have spaces or pages that you can mount photos to them directly. I often design a layout for my clients as well and the 20 page albums start at about $350 for a custom 8x10 album. But keep in mind you'll have this forever! There are no shortage of photo albums out there on the internet but most pro album companies will only sell to professional photogs.

    Good luck...and Congrats!

  4. Hey,

if you find a photographer you like, locally or elsewhere in Canada, just simply ask them what the rates are for travel to Cuba to cover your wedding. Some are tryin to build portfolios and you can get them for great prices. Others are established and have some incredible work to show and the experience to back it up.

You should be able to find the perfect photographer for you regardless of your budget.

    Good luck and congrats!!

  5. hey Sandra,

I just shot there in February and the resort was amazing. Very accommodating and the locations for photos are endless. Make sure you try and get up the the hacienda for some shots and if possible try and secure a 'resort cart' so you and your new husband and photographer can get around quickly and easily to a bunch of different locations in a short time. Its a huge resort.

    Here's a slideshow from Jennie+Dave's wedding.

    Congrats!!!

  6. Hi!

I've only been on here for a few days but my status is 'lurker'. I promise I'm not lurking...I'm just trying to find my way around. Perhaps a post here will help.
