THIS IS ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATING NEWS FOR ALL OF US, ESPECIALLY FOR MAYTE. THIS WAS A MIRACLE CHILD AND AN APPLE OF HER EYE. AS HER DEAR FRIEND, PAST BRIDE, AND COLLEAGUE, I'M KINDLY ASKING ALL OF YOU TO PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH YOUR QUESTIONS AND INQUIRIES. one more thing...

Many of you wonderful beings have been inquiring in the Facebook thread if there's a way to contribute a donation to Mayte and her family for the funeral. If that's something you'd like to do, our Paypal is '[email protected]' and any token donation would be greatly appreciated (choose 'family+friends' for the lowest fees). All names of those who have kindly contributed donations and prayers will be written in a card and given to Mayte.

I've kinda fallen in love with the place since last June but we kept looking elsewhere. We almost settled on Roatan Island, Honduras but after speaking with our guests, we came back to the Jellyfish and we're hoping to stay at Dreams Palm Beach but it depends on cost. I've been conversing with Mayte for a while now and turn around time for emails has never been more than 2 weeks so be patient ladies, she really knows what she's doing. She really wants to give all her brides as much personal time as possible but there only 24 hours in a day and due to her high demand right now, she's just been completely swamped and she has a daughter as well so just trust her. She hasn't failed a single bride yet and I certainly don't expect her to start failing now. Happy Planning!

    AMEN SISTER! :)

    Thank you!

    Hi ladies!

I'm back with the answer after chatting about this with Mayte :) Here we go!

The option of offering your wedding guests full Jellyfish menus is only available for small weddings, 20 people or less. I put myself through university serving tables - and can tell you first hand, if the kitchen at any restaurant receives more than about 20 different orders simultaneously, mistakes are bound to happen!! It's much better to have a customized menu, so that Mayte knows just how many fresh lobster tails to bring in specifically for your wedding… or request fresh organic arugula from a nearby farm. Another reason - it's really great when everyone gets a starter, followed by a main course, complete with sides that compliment the entire meal. Mayte is so great at helping you create a varied unique menu that will reflect your personalities, culture, etc. that will undoubtedly impress your guests! Mayte also mentioned that since the regular menu doesn't include 'side' dishes like the wedding menus do, and this always creates confusion with final prices. Having been a Jellyfish bride … and having been a part of so many amazing (and different) weddings there, I say - trust Mayte's process! :))))

Hope this helps you ladies a bit. I'm here for you if there's anything else! Sending sunshine from Punta Cana!

    xoxo

I'll ask Mayte next time I see her, if there's no online version, we can probably just scan it. They really should have the menu on the website, shouldn't they! That's in the works for their new website... who knows how long that's going to take though.

I've seen a few weddings where the guests ordered off the regular menu - this is usually okay for a smaller wedding, so that the kitchen isn't swamped and everything comes out on time. Once you do a tasting at Jellyfish, you might change your mind - I think there's something really cool about a personalized, customized menu from the B&G - it really doesn't have to be what Mayte outlined in the packages. Either way is great because the food is AMAZING! xx

Thanks Katya, I know this post is old but I just posted last night about the sky lanterns and were they allowed. I just found your info and I've decided against them. D.R is beautiful enough, and I won't to help keep it that way. I've followed a few of your postings and even copy cat some of your wedding plans. Lol.

High five, Dee! Sending you a virtual hug from sunny Punta Cana :)

It's the little choices we make that indeed make a huge difference!

We are crossing our fingers for a date in January 2014 for the Jellyfish but know we may be out of luck, we are booked at Dreams Palm Beach and are now thinking about moving the reception off the resort. We are just wanting to find something less cookie cutter:) would you happen to have a contact for Huracan Cafe that you could share?

Of course love! Sorry for the delay :)

HURACAN CAFE contact is Amore ([email protected]). I'm putting together a separate post so that I can start a new thread for them, but for now - that's all you need! Without this super talented wedding planner, they are just a restaurant. It's a fabulous alternative, although let's now discuss it on this thread too much, hehe! If you have any specific questions, shoot me an email! [email protected] xoxo

Do you know where we can find Audio of Pastor Mark?

Hmm... you might want to reach out to brides who got video coverage of their full ceremonies done by him... Post something here or the Jellyfish facebook page. Any finished videos you find online definitely won't have full ceremonies, just snippets, if that. Sorry that's not more helpful, love! We've only done stills (photos) of ceremonies with him so far. xx

Pastor Rick York is THE first choice. We've now witnessed over 100 ceremonies by him and he's always PERFECT. Pastor Mark is good. He has a tendency to ramble sometimes, but he's very kind and well-spoken. My advice would be to tell him EXACTLY how you want (or don't want) your ceremony to be ...  Cheers! xoxo

    Hey love!

Ah, I'm so disappointed we'll be in Italy for a wedding and aren't coming back till May 4th... We could fly back a day earlier for you if the 4th of May works for you! Please shoot me an email [email protected] or send me a private message and we'll figure it out! xoxo

I was just reading through some material I received from my wedding coordinator and I can confirm to you that cost is $500 USD per person for outside photography and the hotel notes that it does not include food or beverage.

Hope that helps but I'm guessing it's not the answer you would have liked :(

Sorry love, NOT true. It's per photography TEAM. On top of that, if your photographers are covering your reception dinner, you would be expected to seat & feed us... that's just standard. There you go! Hugs from here :)

    Hi Kristina!!

The $500 fee is per photography TEAM. My husband Rob & I work together and it's just a flat fee for us. We offer to take care of half the fee for our couplesangel2.gif

We're flying from Boston and I'm finding that tickets are REDICULOUSLY high right now (and have been for the past month or so). If you already had a wedding in DR, how far in advance did you and your guests book your flights? I'm just so afraid to keep waiting because I'm scared that flights will go up and up and up... Any suggestions will be much appreciated! :)

    Hey Anya!!

Yeah, it's always a bit of a gamble... Do you have a great travel agent? You should check with a few agencies - it's always a better deal when you book an all-inclusive package, especially for a group. November is usually one of the busiest months for weddings here, mostly because the prices are cheaper than around Christmas. Boston is an easy 3.5 hour direct flight, so the tickets shouldn't be expensive. Good luck lady!

We've worked with Krystie Ann on many weddings and she is absolutely amazing. I can't say enough great things about her!! If she's available, I wouldn't think twice about booking her!

    Cheers!

We decided to go with a different photographer because WBA seemed like they did more "posing" type photography and we were looking for more creative, artistic.  Their prices were also much more expensive in regards to packages and included a lot of what we did not want (i.e. actual photos, cards, videos, etc.) However, WBA is part of our wedding package so we hired Karina Jensen (http://photobykarina.com) to photograph our entire wedding and WBA will do our ceremony or whatever our Divine Package includes.  We had tried to book Katya Nova because of the great reviews, but she is out of the country from Nov 2013- Feb 2014.  She gave us a list of great photographers she recommended such Desy & Vincent of RF Weddings, Cole & Jakob of Nordica Photography, Anna from Cineart.ca, Candice from Popik Photography, Karina Jensen (we are using her), Jess Shields Photography, Tamara Briggs Photography (password: dwedding) Yury Meleshko, Asia Pimentel, and Mel & Rob  Shoebox Photography.  Google them and check out their websites!  All look like incredible photographers just a matter of what your budget is and what you are looking for.  They all vary in their style.

    Good Luck :)

p.s. be ware that Now Larmiar now charges a $500 fee to allow an outside photographer into the resort - it may be less expensive to book a room for the photographer since they will then be a guest at the resort...not something I have looked into just yet.

You ROCK for posting these, jldinapoli cheers.gif

That's the list of recommendations I send to all my brides whose weddings we're not around for... Choosing a photographer is such a personal affair... You really have to make sure you love their work and they are fabulous people - because you're going to spend your entire wedding day in their presence!

Regarding the $500 outside vendor fee - mandatory and totally fair. We offer to split it with all our couples. Boom!

    Hugs from Punta Cana,

Can any past brides send me information regarding how much they spent exactly for their wedding regarding alcohol and drinks? I'm looking at the open bar list and are the prices listed per person per hour? Matye seems to be really reasonable regarding prices for everything except the bar options! Did any of you find it easier to run a tab instead of doing an open bar? How much did you spend for the amount of guests you had?

It just seems like it will add up to be more than we want to spend, unfortunately, and that could be a breaking point because in our group we have drinkers and then some who do not drink more than a drink or two a whole night!

Any help would be really appreciated!! I'm feeling a little sad if we can't do it because of that reason alone sad.gif

    Hey luvlove!

    Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

The open bar doesn't apply to the entire evening... As the guests arrive, there's just a welcome cocktail served. Then, after the ceremony, a selection of your few chosen cocktails and beer. During dinner, just wine & beer. After dinner, the bar opens, so potentially, you'll just need it for 2-3 hours. I know for a fact Jellyfish prices for booze are the same or even a little cheaper than most resorts. From experience I can say that it was worth keeping an open bar, because those who drank, really drank cheesy.gif You could also keep a tab, you know your guests better. Does this help at all? I hope so, hehe!

What you should also be concerned about is snapping up a date - I just talked to Mayte yesterday and we're both amazed at how quickly the months are booking up, well into 2015!

    Hugs from here,

    Katya.
