  1. Hello everyone...

Lets start out with saying we had a relatively small destination wedding. We flew out St. Pattys day and headed to RIU Mo Bay, which we booked back in September 09. Well when we get there we find out that 12 out of the 16 peoples who rooms were booked - got bumped!!! They overbooked the hotel and wanted to split us up at different resorts!!! NO WAY! So after about 3 hours in the lobby and dealing with their 'manager' we finally secured two rooms and we all had to bunk up together until Thursday until we could talk to the real manager in charge, Frank. Well after our horrific stressful first night, Frank fixed everything. We all got our rooms, we were moved to an oceanfront suite, and he did alot to make things right for us. Some members of the party were still unhappy and are disputing the hotel charges.

I was having second thoughts and about 45 days before the wedding, I moved the wedding offsite -- after this disaster I was glad I did. We worked with Dawn at Jamaica Elegant Weddings and had our wedding on the beach in front of The Twisted Kilt in Montego Bay (its an irish pub). Dawn was wonderful, she was easy to communicate with and worked within in our budget. The setting was beautiful. Everything was perfect!! The photographer got all our photos on a disk and Dawn delivered them the day before we left.

As for the resort, this was my first trip to an allinclusive so I dont have anything to compare it to. But the resort was beautiful, the beds were hard as a rock though! And getting into the restaurants was near impossible, you have to book as soon as you get there.

Our budget is really low - so she had a few options, once being Aquasol beach and the other which we decided to go with was The Twisted Kilt- its probably not most peoples ideal place - but this will 2nd weddings for both of us and its a very irish place and im marrying into a very irish family. They have a beach area for weddings and then you rent out one of the balconys for the reception.
  3. Dawn is great and if you tell her you budget and exactly what you are looking for, she is very upfront.

We were booked at RIU and had more guests coming than we thought so our free wedding was now 1300 without pics or anything - so I started talking with Dawn she met my budget got me what I wanted and we moved the wedding off resort.

  4. Can someone help a newbie out here!!

Due to increase in the size of our guests we no longer qualify for the cheaper wedding at RIU - so I decided to research my options since at RIU I have a noon wedding and the late reception seating. Not overly thrilled how that plans out.

I looked into Jamaica Elegant Weddings and they use a location called Aquasol which in at a family theme park. Dawn claims that it is a private location, but I cannot seem to find any other reviews about this company and/or location.

Would anyone have any insight - BTW im a little late since my date is March 20!!!
