For our OOT bags, we used black drawstring backpacks, and almost all of our sailing guests used them in the ports.  We also had customized water bottles made from discountmugs.com, and those were a big hit too.  Most of us kept refilling them with water, iced tea or lemonade and carried them with us all day.

I ordered them from Oriental Trading.  We got 24 tins for $19.99.  You have to put the personalized stickers on yourself, but it's not hard to get them centered.  

We did personalized mint tins for favors.  We had about 10 extra and ended up with none left at the end of the reception!  We were glad we remembered to leave 2 at home for ourselves!  We also did OOT bags for our sailing guests (not all of our guests were sailing).

What does he want to do that he thinks he won't be able to do on a cruise?  There are activities going on all day, there's bars, the casino, pools, food 24/7.  We were on the Carnival Miracle, and they played mostly hip hop in the club after midnight, but they also did 50's-90's music in there earlier before midnight.  They had shows and karaoke every night, one of the bars had a live band every night (stayed open late....we went there when the club got too crowded).  We both fell in love with cruising, and we're planning on doing the Miracle's Bahama's & Grand Turk itinerary next year (did Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Grand Turk this time).  Find out everything your ship and each port has to offer, and try convincing him after you have all that info...I don't think it will be too hard after that...there's too much to do to get bored!  The Miracle is one of Carnival's smaller ships, and in 8 days we didn't even see the whole thing!

We're back! Everything was amazing and we're sooo happy we decided to do a cruise wedding!

We thought most of our guests would be late (they usually are) so we told everyone to get to the port at 10:30 instead of 11, the time we were told to be there. To our surprise, we got there around 10:25 and almost all of our guests were already there waiting! We all had to wait for Aisha, the day of WC from A Wedding For You (NYC does not use The Wedding Experience), to get there before we could start boarding, but she told us she would get there at 11 so we hung out with our guests until then. Well, at 11 am, she still hadn't arrived so Carnival brought us through to priority boarding. Aisha met us about 10 minutes later.

She did help things run smoothly, I guess, but I suspect it was more the Shipboard coordinator, Alexandra, than Aisha. I had several guests comment on her attitude after she left and she is standing with her arms crossed looking like it's torture for her to be there in our wedding video. I didn't realize this at the time or I wouldn't have given her a tip.

Shipboard Coordinator, Alexandra - A++++

Alexandra was fabulous! She really took care of us. She made sure we all had whatever food and drinks we wanted, took the time to talk to each one of my guests and really get to know all of us. One of my guests stepped on the back of my dress and my bustle broke and she was right there with a safety pin to fix it. She came to visit us at dinner every night and kept us informed on all the things going on around the ship. It was like she was part of our family by the end of the trip, and we miss her already!

Photographer, Albert - A+

Albert was awesome! Our pictures look like they came out of a magazine! He sent us a postcard invitation to come look at the rest of the pictures, and at the top of it was one of our pictures. It took us a few minutes to realize it was us...that's how good the pictures came out! We thought some of the positions he had us in were awkward and uncomfortable, but he knows exactly what he's doing!

Videographer, Vlad - A

At first we weren't going to do the video, but we are so glad we decided to get it. Everything goes by so quickly, so it's nice to have the memories on dvd.

Ceremony in the City Room, A+

We sent a ceremony script to A Wedding for You about 2 weeks before the wedding, so the officiant already knew what wanted. We did have a few minutes to meet with her individually before the ceremony to sign the marriage license and speak with her briefly. She was such a sweet woman, and she really gave us a beautiful ceremony. We chose 2 readings and did the unity candle ceremony. Everything was perfect. We stayed back a few minutes to take bridal party and family pictures, while the rest of our guests went to the reception.

Reception in Frankenstein's Lab, A+

Even though there's a huge Frankenstein in the room, it didn't take away from the atmosphere. The cake was on the opposite side of the room, and the food was on the back wall, so most of our pictures don't have the Frankenstein in it. We have a few with his feet, but it's all part of our unique wedding! The food was delicious, and the cake was the best cake we've ever had! As soon as we walked in to the reception, we were announced and went right into our first dance. We then did the father/daughter and mother/son dances. We did the cake cutting and champagne toast next. We had the DJ choose the music for the cake cutting, garter toss and bouquet toss. He did a great job with the choice of music, and even took requests. Our guests commented that it was the best wedding they had ever been to.

I did my wedding in port during the cruise.  I think either way there will be stress.  Embarkation day weddings are really rushed.  In port weddings come with lots of stress regarding the ship making it to port, being on time, etc.

 

Oh my, I really need to start planning another cruise!  They are so much fun!

It wasn't rushed at all!  Everything went smoothly and we were able to enjoy the ceremony and reception without feeling like we had to cram everything in.  We got to do our dances, the garter/bouquet tosses, best man/maid of honor speeches, cake cutting, champagne toast, eat....everything we wanted to do. 

If you drink alcohol or soda, cruises are not all inclusive....you have to pay for them on board.  I also don't know of any cruises that would be couples only.  If you're looking specifically for all inclusive, couples only, maybe a resort would be a better option for you.  We were married on a cruise, and loved it, but we did spend a few hundred dollars on alcohol in the 8 days we were on the cruise. 

We were just married on the Carnival Miracle, and our pictures came out great!

 

I'm having an embarkation day wedding....TOMORROW!     Our wedding will be at 1 p.m. but we have to be at the port at 11.  I think the only thing that feels rushed is the reception because it can only be an hour or an hour and a half depending on which package you choose....because your non-sailing guests have to get off the ship before it leaves.  We'll be back on the 27th, so I'll come back and let you know how it went!

We're getting married in NY on the ship before the cruise leaves, so we'll be married in 9 days!

Thanks for the pocket mirror idea, they are adorable! I couldnt resist, the seller was super easy to work with, I told her our colours our coral/orange/ pink and turquoise blue with some starfish and orchid theme throughout and this is what she came up with, what a blast!

I'm planning to teach K-7 but I'm not sure what I prefer yet.  The little ones are so cute and clever, but grades 4-7 I've found to be less work (though the grade 7ers are getting into that teen angst era).  Originally I planned to be a high school chemistry teacher since I did an undergrad degree in Biochemistry, but after trying it out I just felt a bit uncomfortable.  It might be that I still *look* like a high school student, and probably will until I'm into my 30's.  Oh well, it's a blessing!
 

 

I'm a high school special ed teacher (learning disabilities) and still look like I'm a high school student, so I know how you feel.  My brother was a student at the HS I started teaching at, so it helped that I knew a lot of the kids already.  A new life together & a new career...how exciting!  Good luck!

Oh no!  I hope everything works out for you!  What happened with the dress & rings?! 

Oh, and my grandparents & older relatives found out from whichever family member called them first to tell them...that's just how my family works lol.

I called my parents & brother (but they already knew he was going to propose) and then we both text all of our friends & family. After that we announced it on facebook....most of my aunts, uncles & cousins are on facebook so we announce pretty much everything on there anyway (engagements, pregnancies, etc).

We used Honeymoon Wishes, and had 2 people use it. I don't know how it works for all destinations, but for a cruise, they send the money directly to the ship as an onboard credit. Two people bought us things off our registry there (an excursion & partial payment towards a couples massage on the ship) and instead of putting the money towards the actual things we registered for, they sent the money to our ship for us to use any way we want.

Most people bought things off of our Bed, Bath & Beyond registry instead though.
