  1. I've been to Cuba a couple times. They do appreciate cash tips - take lots of US $1's. I also gave the maid a Clinique (perfume/lotion/makeup) each day last trip and she hugged me everytime she saw me. We always bring crayons & "dinky cars" (not sure what you call them these days) for the kids.

  2. Thanks so much, I'm glad you think the tequila bar is a good idea...I've had mixed reviews from my friends...but its us! We are pretty casual people. Actually having painted tin buckets at the ceremony - as my married name will be "BEACH" we painted Beach wedding and the date....will have cold coronas and waters at the ends of the aisles.

Thank you so much for the excursion information - you know I put excursion information on our website as well but without ever being to this area of Mexico ourselves I have no idea what is recommended. Seems like a lot to do! derekandkyla.weddingwindow.com

  3. Barefoot in the Sand - your scrapbooks sound amazing, now that is a perfect gift!

We leave for our wedding in 2 weeks from today for the Del Mar! We have approx 45 people now (16 booked in last 2 days - great sales). We are doing the Gazebo ceremony and hiring the mariachis. Dinner at the Italian restaurant (private event) with a DJ and tequila bar for **kissing** I'll post our travel mugs - just got them in.

I've never stayed in this area of Mexico so if anyone has any advise, excursion ideas etc fire away :) .

  4. Mexican Wedding Traditions:

Is anyone doing some sort of "Mexican" tradition for their ceremony?

We were reading about a few...

A lazo (lasso), is a large rosary, a decorated cord that is symbolically draped around the necks or shoulders of the bride and the groom

    Piniata

Mexican wedding often feature a heart shaped piniata.

    Arras - Thirteen gold coins

The groom gives the bride thirteen gold coins blessed by the priest. Doing so, he also pledges to be a good provider and to support and care for his bride as she becomes his wife.

If anyone has a pictures or suggestions we'd love to hear them. Hoping to do something symbolic for the country we are marrying in ~ 6 WEEKS TO GO.

  5. Hi I'm getting married at the Del Mar as well and also thinking about switching resorts for the "honeymoon" week. We are also renting the Tropical for the reception and not sure what is happening between the 4pm ceremony and Dinner.

    We are giving out:

fans for the ceremony/starfish wine stoppers at dinner/travel mugs before we leave.

Our Invitations are out/replies back! - and final payments due this week! 35 people booked at our hotel and 4 guests staying nearby! Look forward to hearing all the great ideas for Pre-Reception

I just wish I could see some examples from the Iberostar photography staff!

Hi there, I see your post is from a while ago but I just booked with Claudia Rodriquez and they will pay 1/2 of the $300 penalty for using an outside photographer at the Iberostar.
  7. We used Apryl's Designs for our custom invites and everyone loved them! http://www.aprylsdesigns.com/ She will design your invitation for $90 and send it to you through email and you just take it Staples or any printing place and have them printed/folded there. Super Easy. We told her what resort, colors, dates, travel agent information ...sent her our favorite quote and pictures....she put it together. She even finds pictures of your resort to use!

  8. Hey Ladies, I'm from Winnipeg and getting married in the Mayan in January 2010. We are doing the travel mugs but hadn't really picked any online yet. Was thinking the palm tree logo/year/ and "Eat, Drink, & Be Married!".......but really its not a big deal what goes on them. Just want to get some for sure as we use our travel mugs daily on trips! I'm still looking but this sounds like an option possibly.
